I can not imagine what Menzel went through undergoing 4 knee reconstructions. Good on him in not giving up on playing AFL again, the mental challenge would have been a lot harder then the physical.

Maybe he can have a chat to Clay Smith from the Bulldogs who underwent his 2nd knee reconstruction earlier in the year.
Im sure Menz has already reached out mate

Far out

'I hope it gets better soon cos at the moment I have nothing to look forward to'

Brutal
Bloke look totally lost when he was saying that.
It's easy for us to forget at times at just what Dan has had to over come

I'm sure he's in constant contact with many players who've done their ACL.

Yep, he was in a bad place there. And it was a place he had visited a few times during his rehab it seems.

Just makes me respect the bloke even more and makes his comeback all the more impressive.

What an amazing young man! So proud of him and the club for sticking by him.

I ❤️ Dan Menzel!

Every few years a great feel good story comes along.
There are few better than Menzel's comeback.
The tragedy of an talented kid cut down early
The struggle to overcome his injury for an entire year
The heartbreak of breaking down upon his comeback game
The frustration off starting again from scratch
The desperation of trying new technology like Lars
The emptiness that all options have failed
The devastation of breaking down a 4th time
The depression that he may never play again
The worry of numerous setbacks along the way
The mental strength to keep going
The anticipation of playing again
The satisfaction of being out on the oval again
The joy of his first kick
The jubilation of his first goal
The congratulations of his teammates
The excitement he generates in Geelong supporters
The angst of riding every bump
The relief of making it through uninjured
The marvel of this talent
The hope he provides for next season
Daniel Menzel gives it all... and then some.

Dan must have been if some pretty dark places over the past four years and the doco shows just how bad it got

But to see where he was to where he is now is an inspiration to all that say life is to hard

Sums it up perfectly for me.

Tough decision for coaching staff and medicos now, would you risk him in a dead rubber or start preseason now?

Inspirational story and can't wait for part 2 tonight.

Good luck Dan [emoji106]

Another great sports story of determination and focus in the face of repeated bouts of despair. Inspirational.

Look forward to Part 2.

Here's hoping he stays fit from now on :thumbsu:

What a remarkable young man Daniel is , to overcome such huge challenges and disappointments to come out the other end so positive is testimony to his character and upbringing.
What also hit home from the "day clock was how tough it must have been to put in all that rehab time , a lot of it on his own over such a long period.
Loking forward to the conclusion tonight and more importantly for the Footy Gods to smile upon this fine young man and look after him in the future

Incredible guts and determination to see out 4 knee recos. A lesser man would have thrown in the towel and said enough. No player should ever have to go through what he has. From chocolates to boiled lollies back to chocolates again! What a rollercoaster ride. Hopefully this is it now and he can play out the amazing career in footy that he was born to do. Can't wait for Saturday, 2016 and beyond.

Did anyone else here Gary Lyon's dribble on the Footy Classified saying not to play him this week? Pretty much the whole argument was on Menzal getting a full preseason into him, Lyon doesn't understand every games precious... is your ACL safer at training? He's already busted one there. Really annoyed me
