Did anyone else here Gary Lyon's dribble on the Footy Classified saying not to play him this week? Pretty much the whole argument was on Menzal getting a full preseason into him, Lyon doesn't understand every games precious... is your ACL safer at training? He's already busted one there. Really annoyed me

Yep saw that. just look at my avatar of little Gary and you will laugh it off :p. Don't think we need to worry as Dan was talking on AFL360 last night about playing on Saturday and how much he can't wait so I'm pretty sure he is a lock in for the last game of the season :D

If Dan had to wait 4 years to play AFL again I dare say we can all wait 24 hours for episode 2.
Might be something behind this "entitlement" generation stuff :(
It clashes with Finger Lickin Girlfriends III on Adults Only 2 #toughchoices

Think Dan would have to be just about dead for him to miss any game of football from now on if he is healthy to play

I'm so happy that Menzel has made it back, and with such a stunning return game. But I think I'll always be a bit of a nervous Nellie about him, not only worrying about how his ACLs will hold up, but his knees in general.

For instance, I was quite concerned to read that he still has a lot of knee pain after every game, due to residual tendinitis. In the Cats article, they say this about his knee:

"The truth is he still experiences soreness every time he trains and it will take until Tuesday or Wednesday, at least, before the knee stops screaming at him this week, the pain a reminder no amount of belief can erase."

So I hope that he does have a proper break over the off-season and that his knees settle down more, because we want another 200-plus games from Dan, which might be hard to achieve if he's still playing with so much pain.

I got a few spare points too.

In a season where we've seen horrendously sad news on and off-field throughout the AFL, the Menzel story is a shining and uplifting light. Doco was really well done.

Loved the doco, spilled a small man tear or two especialy in the highlights package of his return AFL game.

I live up in Sydney and when I heard he was making his return VFL game I could not help myself. Booked a flight and a nights accomodation in Melbourne and witness his return game via the VFL which was the first time I had seen the Bankers live. It was a cold miserable day but Dan played well so I was happy. Lots of coaches at the game including Scott so was well worth it. Went the the North game and got our asses kicked but I flew home the next day really bloody happy! Great job Dan.

Dan has done the unprecedented in AFL. No player has, iirc, ever successfully come back from 4 ACL recos, let alone be the best player for his team. Absolutely stunning, and the single best story of 2015.

I am, in a way, thankful for the tendinitis. If it hadn't been for that, Daniel may have been playing too early, when his knee was not ready for it. I think the extra 6 months or whatever- well, not "think" but more "pray" that the extra 6 months has given his bones, ligaments, etc. that extra healing time.
Who knows? It might make no difference whatsoever and his knee might go again but I feel that at least this time around, he's given it a fighting chance.

I remember reading a while back that it was being suggested that the recovery time for an athlete should be closer to 2 years than 1 from ACL
