Good luck to Mercs getting back into the side. When was the last time he played seconds ?

Hille vs King all match - really testing out the kid lately, hope he responds.

How much better do our emergencies look than our actual bench ?

Its another classic "we wont line up like that" selections. But one ruckman again? We saw what happened last time. Its not a problem not to play Alessio, hes almost finished as a top flight player, but O'Keefe? Layc()ck? Someone?

It's Sheedy's favourites again.

And he has to be the most moronic short term memory coach in the game. We lost to Sydney for one reason - no 2nd ruckman. It was so obvious and what does he do against King who is too strong for Hille - gives him no backup. Good one Sheedy you
*****head

dont agree with dropping mercuri, he is still a valuable asset, probably has the best footskills over a short distance in the comp! i think barnard, peverill and alessio are more deserving of being dropped. However Alessio should be replaced with O'Keefe or Lay(ock.

Reynolds? Reynolds? What the **** did he do for Bendigo a fortnight ago??

If we lose this game, like the Sydney game, it'd be a game lost by the match committee. Fancy selecting only one ruckman again!?!?!? Oh yeah ... Bolton is a great ruckman!

Peverill has become a Sheedy favourite. Its bull****. He doesn't deserve a spot in the side. Same argument could be said for Barnard.

Disgraceful!

But on a lighter note ... good luck Jobe!

we lost by 9 goals and it can all be attributed to ONE reason?

i cant see what people have against reynolds... you complain they should be playing mcgrath because we need pace, and joel's pretty damn fast.. he's also got a terrific set of hands too.

We need another ruckman over Reynolds. We only went in with one ruckman against Sydney and looked what happened.

Now I am worried......

You will find that a lot of matches hang in the balance, and then one thing tips in ain a teams favour and 1 goal becomes 9. It is that simple as footy is played in burst and once a team really gets on top they can break opena game, the other team drops its head cause the game is lost and bang - blow out.

The size of the loss is not attributed to 1 ruckman-that is more a heart issue and lack of confidence in the players - which once again comes back to the coach as it is his job to get the players playing well.

i'm not quite understanding what your saying... i'll give it a shot though.. are you suggesting that v sydney we lost becuase steve didn't play, however the 9 goal margin was a result of lack of confidence and heart?

what would have happend if steve played? would he have made that much of a difference in the third quarter? i dont think he would have. I dont beleive that an absence of a backup ruckman was, as you suggested, was the "one thing" that tipped that match in Sydney's favour... we lost by 9 goals - the game wasn't tipped, it was completley knocked over.. Hille having a rest during the game couldn't cause a moment to change a game by 9 goals. If we lose by 9 goals tonight, it wont be the single reason. Mustapha reckons if ces plays tonight we'd win by 4 goals, if he doesn't it'll be the reverse.. If it only takes that to cause a lack of confidence and heart in our players, and make our side an 8 or 9 goals variation in our team, then we have some serious, serious issues... something playing ces this week will do nothing to fix.

Players who play on the ball would usually be the players who suffer the most fatigue during a match. If a midfielder gets tired there are probably 5-10 other players who could replace the tired midfielder while he rests on the bench or in a forward pocket. If the ruckman gets tired there might be one or two players who could take over the ruck duties. What will happen tonight? There are very few ruckman who have the ability to play on the ball for the whole game. The 8-9 goal difference was probably a bit much but the lack of a second ruckman will have an impact and could be the difference between winning and losing.

On another note, how do you think Fletcher would go in the ruck if he had to play there? He has a good leap and good reach and would be quicker than every other ruckman in the league. He would struggle at throw ins and due to his light frame would have a high risk of getting injured at centre bounces.

Mercs is headed to the VFL tribunal Wednesday for allegedly striking Brent Moloney of Geelong in the 2nd quarter Saturday.
First time he's been to a tribunal since 96.

MERCS WILL BE BACK...I'M SURE

Dont worry,
I'm pretty sure that Mecs will be back in for the St.Kilda game.
There will prob be a swap with Watson, poor bugger was no where near the ball half the time....the way Sheed's was sounding, sounded like Jobe might get another game or 2 this season...

Mercs copped a poke in the eye in Q3 in the reserves and didnt play for the rest of the game...hmmm

GO DONS!

Bit hard seeing as he's been suspended for 2 matches.
