Yes, but cornthwaite > other right sided players.

In all seriousness, he has doen well and more deserving than Mullen - Alemao on the other hand has found a better use closer to the center of the pitch and further up form defence.

Yes but the last month has shown Flakes major weakness, lack of pace, which is fine in a central position reading of the play can make up for that, but on a wing isolated one on one with some who is clearly quicker he has struggled.

The party's over for Robbie Cartwright. Every team is attacking him down that left hand side. Evertime he goes for a tackle he is a yellow or red card waiting to happen. I'd rather see him up front and getting forward more.

If that doesn't happen give Waqar a run to assist Cristiano. Draw a line through Agostino, Waqar is the future.

Also I never want to see Sarkies picked in front of the flying mullet again.

He hasnt done well tactically there - As said the problem on the right hand side is Travis does little to no defensive work, leaving an out of position cornthwaite against a speedy opponent everytime.

He doesnt lay a tackle in fear of being carded, and shows them around the box waiting for the rest of the team to come back and help.

He does the best in an awkward situation.

But in sayign that i think Mickey V has played his last game - any future defensive woes (Ogga or Ange getting injured or suspended) should be adressed like this

Jammo ----- Ange / Ogga ------ Cornthwaite ------ Mullen

-------------------------Eugene

Definitely agree with this it infuriates me how much Dodd will not come back and help defend.

Seriously apart from the last month Travis hasnt put a foot wrong so I dont know how you can continually criticise him. Is it his fault Vidmar keeps picking him ?? No. Is it his job to defend ?? No. Watch the Socceroos, how often do H Kewell and Bresciano get back, almost never. Whilst of course they are far greater players, the criticism should be levelled at all, not just one.

And in other news it appears we may have seen the last of Pantelis for a while with another knee injury. No big loss as far as the side goes but wish Lucas all the best in his recovery. And also, in an attempt to fix our defensive woes of late The Advertiser say we are apparently targeting one of the bigger hacks in the league..... Iain Fyfe. Why Viddie why ??

Kewell and Bresciano dont defend as much as they should - but they dont have to cover for a slow player that is being played out of position week in, week who gets pantsed by speedy imports.

Just because he is a good forward doesnt mean he shoudlnt have any defensive duties.

Youre absolutely right. What im getting at I guess is that Travis does get back and cover quite a lot, its just Cornthwaite makes so many mistakes he cant get back and help out every single time.

This is sage advice. Everytime Robbie Younis comes on he threatens ... unfortunately it is usually only for the last 10 minutes of a match. He scored 2 goals for the youth team last week in a 6-1 rout of the Mariners.

Against that is the fact that Sarkies somehow managed to also score 2 goals in the same game. When he plays in the A-League he struggles to keep the ball below the top of the netting behind the goal while trying to prove he is a "dead ball specialist". He must be getting the message from the collective groan of the crowd every time he comes on as a sub.

Surely with Spagnolo in Mr Sarkies's place we will win by a nose every time ...

I'm sorry he doesn't. Melbourne Victory game classic example. But there is no point in this you have your view and I have mine.

I liked it :p:D.

Also, I dont think Robbie is ready for the next step just yet but youre right he does threaten a bit and hell we wouldnt be losing much if we did bring him in. Its a bit like Matty Simon at the Mariners. Last year he looked threatening but failed to finish, Younis has been much the same in the limited time hes had this year and like Simon, I feel its only gonna take one goal to get him flying.

well, i just got back for the soccer, tell you what I can't believe people bag that stadium, its ****ing awesome + the food isn't a rip off. THe only problem is it's location, hopefully that gets fixed with the tram line going down there.

2 questions - apart from transport why do people want a new soccer stadium built? and did that sydeny FC guy get sent off for being a soft prick or was it something else?

You are right about the food. Best junk food at a sporting event money can buy. The steak burgers are worth the price of admission alone.

Word from Scott Jamieson after the game was that the Sydney player was sent off for something he said to the referee.

oh damn, i almost had a new found respect for the sport, oh well.

still its not a bad night out really, shame more people didn't get out there.

Jeez we played crap. We really need to jag a win from somewhere at the moment to get our confidence back :(

Having said that put your house on us this weekend. Why I hear you ask for the first time in about a year I can't go to a home game. Guaranteed win! :D

Bloody told you so.

he said your f**** s***** Ref and also called him a cheat - so I think the decision is the right one

Fine say What was that... but his is abuse and we know that you are not allowed to abuse refs like that

they were told seasons start it would be cracked down on - pure stupidity on his part

Kosmina reckons the club is going to fight the red card. What a load of rubbish. Being surrounded by a bunch of underachievers has really got to poor old Kossie.

As RoosterLad said he was already on a yellow, he went off the pitch injured, got treatment, they inexplicably sent him back on, he lay down in the foetal position, ref told him to roll his sorry ass to the sideline and he responded with an expletive laden mouthful. What's there to fight Kossie?

I am really starting to hate Sydney more than Melbourne just due to their underachievment and constant whingeing when they are almost certainly over the salary cap and have the least travel to do of any team. How a team with Aloisi, Corica, Bridge, Musialik, Brosque and Cole can not even be in the top 4 at this stage of the season can mean only one thing ... Sydney FC is in crisis ... AGAIN!!!

On the subject of our own team, that was an absolutely crucial win and it was well earned, we dominated shots on goal even before Sydney were a man down. Of course tho, in Kossie's own mind he was quite adamant that they had outplayed us!

I have to hand it to Viddie, I was worried about the starting lineup but they got the job done. Just one question tho - if Cartwright, Cassio and Cristiano needed a rest this week then why didn't they need a rest last week when we had fresh players sitting on the bench?!

Onto the absolutely delectable steak sandwiches (reason enuf alone to go to the game), they have led to me now checking for 3 essentials before leaving home for a game at Hindmarsh - Adelaide United paraphanalia, money to ensure I can buy at least a couple of Carlsbergs ... and dental floss!!!

P.S. Horror week for me in A-League tipping and Fantasy League, I tipped all draws and I think my team will be lucky to score 15 points ... I am too scared to look.

Couldnt agree more IMHO

Next two games before the WCC are critial - win those and we are in the box seat to get to the top two come finals time.

If you do happen to forget you can always the girls behind the bar to borrow their underwear

He was already on a yellow so it was fair twattish behaviour from the man with the sick mo.

He was already on a yellow, but was issued a straight red. So he would have been off regardless of the prior offence. That said he obviously was not in the referee's good book.

How can anyone call for a new stadium when only 9,000 people turn up to a soccer game on a saturday night against the biggest team in the comp

For some reason I thought the ref gave a second yellow but anyway, it deserved a straight red. To even consider doing that while booked is complete stupidity.

The Bling are falling apart a little.
