We couldn't even get our chances on target. That gave us no chance of scoring as Gamba don't have Carragher playing for them sadly.

Ha ha! That's comedic Gold :)

I read somewhere on the weekend that he has scored as many own goals against Tottenham as he has actually scored for Liverpool in his career ... and that was before Saturday night's debacle!

Then again Liverpool did trouble the scorer and a game in hand is not worth two in the bush ...

Just looking at what Man U are doing to Gamba, even though Gamba at times have looked very good, id have hated to see the score if we'd have played them. Great experience yes, but would a 5, 6nil scoreline helped confidence ??

Anyways, great result and a good tourny for us, and some money to spend !!!

Retirement news which isn't really a shock:

No surprises really, has been injury plagued for a while now:

Agostino to call it a day
Article from: The Advertiser

ADELAIDE United's marquee player Paul Agostino announced his retirement at Hindmarsh Stadium today.

The former Socceroo, who has had an illustrious career in Europe - particularly with 1860 TSV Munich - has struggled with injury since joining the Reds in 2007.

Agostino has played just 15 A-League matches for United and scored four goals in 18 months.

The striker, who was world renown for bullet-like heading ability, has succumbed to a variety of injuries including recovering from a broken foot, adductor strains, torn calf muscles and driver strains since he landed in Adelaide last year.

So thats now Agostino, Valkanis, Beltrame, Salley, Costanzo, Erdogan and Diego as confirmed or near enough confirmed as leaving the club at seasons end with Ogga, Dodd and Galekovic still being chased by Asian clubs. Only Fyfe has been signed so far and whilst its by no means panic stations just yet, its a little worrying that another major squad change is on the cards.

Well done on a great career to Ago though and hopefully he isnt remembered for just his time at AUFC. Hopefully he can get his body right and go out a winner.

And Spagnuolo. At least we will get transfer fees for Og, Dodd and Eugene if any or all of them go. A central defensive partnership of Cornthwaite and Fyfe next season promises to be nerve wracking though...

Norwich City was the club looking at Robbie but that seems to have quietened down a bit of late, he just signed a new 2 year deal with us too I believe. Jamieson has had a crack at England already so it wouldnt surprise me if he was to go back, but not for a few years.

I dont like the way our club handles transfers as a whole, not just the recent ones, but with Sasa I can see their point of view. If the Koreans are willing to pay him 1 million a year then surely they can fork out more than 285k in transfer fees. And on the other side of it, you'd think Sasa would show the club a bit more respect, after all if it wasnt for AUFC he wouldnt have been in that shop window.

He will leave I have no doubt but with the Korean season not starting until March he will be able to see out the season with us, as will Diego before he leaves for Korea.

I think Notts Forest were another team looking at Cornflakes... so he could have ended up in League One next season anyway.

Agree about the wages/transfer fees. They can afford a lot more than that. He will dominate against the Korean short people too. If Jade North is worth 800k then Oggy is worth a few million.

Pretty obvious we will lose him but if he finishes the season and helps us to silverware then it won't be as bad.

I wasnt too impressed with Sasa's outburst to be honest. Like Shorty said, he wouldnt of been in the shop window. We are not just going to let a club bend us over, we have to play hard ball. I thought we played the Djite transfer well, played hard ball but then let him go and, what I thought was a decent fee.

I dont see Adelaide holding someone like Sasa back, but they are also not going to jump at their first offer.

Thats what gets me. North is not the player Ogga is IMO but you get a few international caps and your price skyrockets. 800k is steep for Big Sass I think but it was way too high for North.

News on tonights game, only restricted viewing left. Build a city stadium and they will come........

Hell yeah. City stadium is the way to go.

The viewing at Adelaide Oval for the round ball code isn't the best.... but being able to go to the Cas, Cathedral etc etc for a few pints before the game then wander over to the game is brilliant. It is so much easier to get to as well.
