The A league is embarrassing how can Melbourne (if they win) say whoo hoo were the Champion's when they only played the same club three times:confused:

It's pretty shit.

It's why the finals series really needs to be abolished for the A-League to get anywhere.

Next year should just be a 36 game season, 4 games against each side.

But no, instead we have to have it so there's 27 games, meaning an odd number of times you play each side, and then a shitty 6 team finals series.

Well done

I was in the process of typing a post almost identical to this, when I realised that I was rambling and not making sense, so i scrapped it, and what should I find, but this post.....weird. But yes, I agree, the finals system HAS to go.

We are in Australia so that is why the finals series will remain. We are used to the system so it will remain for quite a while I'd say.

Supporters of teams sitting midtable will probably lose interest pretty quick if they weren't in the hunt for a finals spot.

Which in turn is going to ruin the A league, I think you are beginning to understand where Im coming from:thumbsu:

Is it going to final six next year with the entry of Townsville and Gold Coast??

So what sort of comp is that:confused: It will die quicker than the NSL did.

Why? Because two teams are clearly the best this season? With a salary cap in place it will always be an even comp. The two in the GF didn't even qualify for the finals last season.

Overseas you see the same teams dominate year after year, so this comp will not be dying even though you claim it is bound to happen. But you are pretty clueless when it comes to most things.

You look for a chance, any chance, to begin an argument and don't even put forth a decent case. A random mash of the keyboard with your head, followed by clicking 'submit reply' is about as far as your argument goes.

So North vs South/West/the other one that escapes my mind at the moment.

See you at AAMI in October

Finals needs to stay.

Play each team 4 times?

Playing them 3 times is enough - as said mid table teams would have nothing to play for and with the contract negotiation rules it will tear clubs apart at the seam.

What they should do is call the finals series a Cup competition and include every club, just make it a seeded competition - eg this year Melbourne would have hosted Newcastle, We would have hosted Perth etc

Well let the mid-table teams have nothing to play for then. (besides the fact, the players go out there wanting to win regardless of league position, they're competitive)

The finals system comes from the AFL, this isn't the AFL people!

It's football. Might as well stop the EPL because teams like Man City and West Ham don't really have anything to play for.

Teams play each other 4 times in Scotland and it works fine.

Finals system needs to be abolished. Replace it with a cup competition or whatever, but first past the post should be the champions, not the winners of some ridiculous finals system. Central Coast could have come out and played 3 absolutely brilliant games to be crowned champions, and the best team all year in Melbourne Victory would end up with nothing to show for it.

lol :D love maccas_no1 post's, you could swear hes on crack or something.... Theres nothing wrong the finals system its just like the when west coast and sydney played Qualifying Finals against each other and then played in the Grandfinal. The only difference is the aleague is missing the semifinals because of a lack of teams.

Are you RL's love child:rolleyes:

Melbourne Victory are going to play the same team for the third time in as many weeks, how if they win does that make them worthy champions?? Sydney and West Coast had to play other clubs to eventually meet in the GF.

I find it funny that you call me a moron despite the many times you have been pantsed on the football board for your ****ing stupid comments.

But you are right in saying that maccas' argument is stupid, he is not the most intelligent punter out there.

It is going to be so sweet if we can get up - ive got a few fans (both mel and AU) id love to stick it to...a certain Advertiser journalist comes to mind

I dont think im as scare now as I have every been before a game - I alomst feel sick

ive got no doubt that some MV fans are scared but when we made the ACL we given alot of respect and how its like well we shouldnt turn up because MV own us.

This is a chance to get that gorilla off our backs, to earn some respect - basically this is OUR shot at REDemption - I want that badly....more than the win itself
