All young players have question marks hanging over their head.

What do you mean you don't want a big mark?

He has been injured like many other players, eg Cotchin last year, Selwood etc etc, but he should make a full recovery.

Everyone is keen on Hurley yet he has pace question marks.

I suppose they do all have question marks over them, wheter they make it or not. Luke Molan was picked up by the Demons with pick 4, never played a game. so i do agree Merv,

I meant to say, a big tall player, with quation marks over his head, fitness wise.

Cotchin and Selwood are both small mids, one with a bung shoulder (selwood) not sure on Cotchin (ankle was it??), so a little different to the knee injury whish Trengove has,

I suppose I am just another frusterated Essendon supporter, seeing everyone elses first round draft pick, bursting onto the scene and taking the game by storm, has essendon had one (apart from Rama). no, dont think we really have had one.

I wouldnt mind us picking a tall defender later in the drat, Brodie AvVard, or a Riley Milne. it wouldnt bother me, and for mine, a Jack Ziebell before Hartlett, we have enough goal kicking mids, we need more hard in and under players.

yeah we should draft Trangove, keep up our good record of drafting young players with injuries, Pears, Gumbleton, Lee, just to name a few;)

I'd prefer to take a small risk on a player who had an unlucky injury (note not a chronically injured player) than take a risk with Hurley who reportedly lacks real pace. That's just my opinion.

EDIT: Yeah I agree with you, we should also look at this Trangove player. :p

Pick 9 :thumbsu:

Selwood had a knee and there was speculation he would never fully recover. Or reports to that extent.

what else are we looking to get in this draft, since we are going to have at least 5 picks, plus 2-3 more maybe, we are going to need to draft a few more players, any thoughts on who or what we may get. we all know what we want with our first round, how bout we start lookinf deeper in the draft.

If it's true that we have spoken with Trengove a few times then it's obvious that we're interested in him.
For those who have seen him play, would you feel comftorable with taking him in front of Hurley? Would he be rated as highly as Hurley without injury and would you be happy with him at 5?

Has got a lot of potential, so if the club decides he'll get over this injury easy and will be able to beef up, I'll have no problems with us picking him up with our first pick.

Who do YOU want EFC to draft at #5 in 2008?

Overlooking the possibilites of the other four clubs before us drafting certain players (if still isn't set in stone, anyway), if you were head recruiting manager, who would you select with our first-round pick at the national draft?

Re: Who do YOU want EFC to draft at #5 in 2008?

A strong KP back who can play on the gorillas and also the fast leading forwards

OR

A midfielder who can find it inside and out with genuine foot skills

Don't know enough about individual players to pick a specific player

That would be Michael Hurley or Jack Ziebel.

i'd wait until trade week is over before deciding this but...

if inactive during trade week then it has to be hurley or trengove at pick 5.

I wouldn't, simply because of needs. IMO we need Hurley more than we need Trengove, especially with Bellchambers impressing last game. Although with the Lovett up for trade we might be able to package him with our 3rd round draft pick for a mid range 1st round which I would jump at the chance for Trengove.

Re: Who do YOU want EFC to draft at #5 in 2008?

I like the looks of Zeibell, if he could play across half back and act as our, say, quarterback (i don't like that term) and set up play, it would give us excellent rebounding out of the backline and hopefully be able to shut down a dangerous medium/small forward (Not too sure on his defensive skills tho). Being a midfielder also, would help in rotations. Thinking he could a better version of Nash.

A midfielder.

Just to use an example Tom Williams was pick 6 in 2004 and is just on the verge of breaking onto the scene. Can we wait that long?

Better now than later. There is no doubting we need a key defender and if it's gonna take him 4 years to develop we'd be better off getting one now rather than putting it off.

And anyway I think Hurley will step straight in ala Harry Taylor at the cats.

Watts, natanui or rich are not going to drop to us. But apart from them, i rate ziebell over the rest.

Taylor was a mature age recruit, he's 22.
