HAHAHA
gave me a little chuckle, thoughts on Jay Shannon R I G
I've seen this guy play numerous times, but haven't been a big fan of him to be honest. I've heard plenty of people talk him up on the drafts & trading thread, but not quite sure what the big fuss over this 'smoky' is about. He has decent size and resonably good hands close into packs, but nothing really stands out about him, no X factor imo.

if thats the case, i wouldnt mind him, can win his own ball, thats wheat we like too see, am in agreeeance over no real X-Factor, doesnt me he would be a bad pick up, if he was to be a poor man's rich, then certainly we can work on, hate to see it, but, his 'potential' i use it reservedly, as I have only seen the two games of SA, and he does his but and thats it, but, we dont need a team of superstars, we need a superstar team to win a flag,
Thoughts??
Yes and x factor is a BS term used by fans and the media.
Lets face it pretty much only champions posses x factor that gets used all the time.
The reason he is talked up is he is good at finding the ball and he uses it well. He is not a jet but he has pretty good pace and kicks both sides of the body.
How many guys like Armatige , or Boak or others taken outside the top 5 but still first round had some sort of the so call X factor ?
Its not like Shannon is being talked up as someone who will come screaming into the top 10.

Out of the ones who made the AA...players I wouldn't mind picking up.
Round 1
Hamish Hartlett
Michael Hurley
Shaun McKernan
Jack Ziebell
Possible for Round 2
David Zaharakis
Steele Sidebottom
Mitch Robinson
Nick Suban
You would think one of those can slip through to our Round 2. Only problem is Melbourne, West Coast and Fremantle could be eligible for PP after the first round (before their second round). Which would push us three spots down the order.
' X factor' in my eyes is a player that has something that really stands out, such as great pace or a massive leap. Nothing really stands out about him, so that's what I meant when I said that there. Boak & Armitage both showed way more potential/class at the champs then Shannon has done this year so it's not even worth comparing them. Of course he isn't being touted top 10, never thought that and nver will, but some of the guy's on the drafts and tradings board rate him a tad to highly, but their opinion is certainly valid, but different in my eyes thus why I talked about him here.
49. Patrick Hayes 190cm 80kg Calder
Extremely quick and athletic former representative hockey player. A few clubs had more than a nibble at him last year and his rate of improvement this year has been pleasing and has the scope to improve significantly more. The queries on Hayes are his kicking which has improved as the season has progressed and his decision making which is a little scratchy. However, Hayes shows speed from half back which doesn’t break lines it destroys them. A touch of Tadgh Kennelly about him.Been a rare exciting rookie for Calder.
And also, what are peoples thoughts on Matthew Broadbent, saw him a couple of times and he was a very solid player, a 189 utility/backmen, was very unlucky by all reports to miss AA, any chance of him sliding, where to, am not thinking Essendon will take him, but just curious of where he may fall too.
I'd think Broadbent will be picked up around the second or third round, hovering around that mark imo.
ok then, cheers, Essendon wont look at him, plays a similar role to NLM>Adam Mcphee??
He does fit the tall running midfielder/halfback type that Knights does seem to like.

would you feel essendon may take him, if he was their in, MAYBE, the third round, is he still going to grow, could be a handy player at CHB if he was still to grow,
I think we'd have a good look at him if he was still available at our third pick no doubt.
i doubt he would still be around the third round. some people have him top 20, others seem to have him sliding to the third round. so maybe he mightm im not too sure, would he play AFL straight away, I have always been a fan of his.
Nuh, I don't think he'll make an impact in the AFL straight away like Palmer for example. Rich, Zaharakis & Hurley are the likely types that look like making an impact straight away in the AFL. Yeah, depends where recruiters rate him, which is a bit of a mystery at this stage, but only forming my on judgement on that. Probably second round, but could slide to the third with a big crop of even youngsters.
yeah, just not sure on Matty Broadbent, thats all.
Seems like he may be able to grow a little bit, do you think he would be able to hold down a KP (FB,CHB) at AFL level in a few years. if someone bulked him up a little bit, play a role like Matthew Scarlett does, or Brian Lake, not the tallest blokes, but very good backmen.

All I am asking, from not just your fine self, Great Source, but do you see Shannon being picked up in say the third round, Would love to see him the big red stripe,
