You must have seen Ziebell on an off day Bart, he is in the top 5 kicks throughout this draft in my opinion. Rich, Sidebottom, Robinson, Yarran & himself would make up the top 5 I would think.

So I've been researching, forgive me if I'm totally way off the mark but after reading some draft profiles I've come up with a few players I'd be very keen on seeing in our Essendon guernsey.

First Round:

Hurley, Hartlett, Ziebell or Trentgrove (possibly...)

Second Round:

Swift, Suban, Lynch or Heyne

Third Round:

Deboer (very doubtful that he'll slip this far)
Banner, Lisle or Shiels

Fourth Round and Later

Milne, Beams, Heenan, Wright or Senstock

When I said, "See more of what he [Ziebell] could do"... I didn't mean a highlight real. (slow internet doesn't help either)

People are saying he's only played 5 or so games for TAC, thats when I say we need to see more of him, who knows he can offer more than a running flanker.

And if he's apparently a lot similar to David Myers... Then we should really be looking elsewhere because in the end they both will just get in the way of each other.

All in all he's a fabulous player, but we should be worrying more about what we don't have, like an Inside (Hard-Working) Midfielder! and a key backman that will be there for seasons to come.

I think we have enough inside mids - Welsh, Watson, Lonergan, Hislop, Hocking but I agree a key back would be good its just got to be Hurley

People have to remember; that, if we dont get Hurley, then, it wont be the end of the world, what happens if we dont get Hurley, god behold if we dont, all Essendon supporters are going to run rampant are they, people, open your eyes, please, some people have, and I applaud you, but others are dead keen, one eyed on Hurley, what happens if Port pick him?? what happens if Trengrove peforms badly at draft camp?? what happens if Ziebell does a knee during finals?? we dont know do we?? just keep an open mind on what is going on people. that is all I ask.

Windas its really tough before trading happens as you dont know who you gain and who you lose.
Pick 5 if you go tall then Hurley or Trengove are obvious but there is a lot of momentum for Tyrone Vickery in AFL circles. I like Trengove most but we would probably take Hurley if available. Hurleys speed concerns me and will be interested in his 5m and 20m times. If they are poor he could slip a little. Jackson Trengove wont be testing at draft camp- got that info a little while a go. Vickery has blossomed this year and stocks have risen.
Zeibell is a tweener. He could be Luke Hodge but he could be another one paced utility who is a solid afl citizen. Testing will tell but he is a natural footballer.
Hamish Hartlett is a ball magnet who will come under consideration especially after passing on Joel Selwood. Some of our recruiting department were very keen on Selwood and that memory may be fresh come draft time.
I would take Trengove however I think Hurley, Zeibell or Vickery more likely.
Second round will be reliant on who we grab first round. If we go tall KP then we will most likely go mid. I would like a bit more speed as i think Watson, Hocking, Hislop and Welsh is enough one pace Mid. I think Hill will be gone well before our pick so I would hope for Blease, Walters or possibly Heyne.
The draft is really hard to discuss subjectively because you just dont know who will be available. My philosophy is always draft the best player possible but an unbelievable draft for us might look like:

I myself am really keen on the DC results of Hurley and Ziebell and i would really like Blease or Suban in the second round, but there's a pretty good chance both will be gone.
Draft Day is shaping out as an exciting time, because from pick 5-20, it really is a raffle.

Also, it's been said that Hurley is more of a lock down backman, does the same go with Trengove? I know he's quite skinny but as far as one on one marking contests and pack situations go, how does he fair?

i think if they were thinking about that it would be more along the lines of tom swift rather then hartlett

Secondly, do you think clubs might look at say Joseph Daye and/or Lance Daly, some tall, rangy types in the latter parts of the draft..? Both have shown some glimpses of great footy, but haven't really put it all together into some consistant performances.

I'd be hesitant to take Still, Hill and Trengove in the same draft.

I don't question their talent, but drafting three talls with huge amounts of development ahead of them just strikes me as a bit obsessive.

It'd be nice to see another midfielder in there.

He has a high work rate, football smarts, is a ball magnet but has average disposal.

He would be a good pick in the thrir round as IMO, he could be groomed as a stopper in the midfield.

Watson, Slattery, Welsh & Monfries have all had spurts of tagging players, and I don't think flooding a list of taggers is a good thing.

There is a chance, but not a massive one, but still a chance nonetheless.

If he did not have the kicking problem i would love him. I am not sure about turning him into a stopper as his natural game is to go in hard and find the footy and he does that well.

How about something like this for our draft, first 4 rounds:

1st Round: Hurley/Hartlett
2nd Round: Swift/Hill
3rd Round: Broadbent/Banner/Shiels
4th Round: Redden/Browne

could be something like that, wouldnt mind a ruckmen with our 2nd or 3rd round, but would prefer the better midfielders be picked first, then ruckmen later or in the pre season draft.

Yep, but what I like also is his size and shape. He looks like he'll grow into a Nathan Buckley type.

And he doesn't shirk it when he gets tackled. He frees his arms and gets the handball out while copping a bit of treatment.

Looks to be the perfect balance between inside and out that we need to complement McVeigh, Watson, Welsh, Lonergan
