"Not sure if you caught it, but on Tens News Gossage was talking about Dockers being hellbent on getting pace in this draft; and for that reason are looking at taking Hill at 3!

BTW, inside tip on Tom Swift - he's going to Essendon at five. My friend is good mates with Swift and that's where he thought he would be heading...(realises this is like 99% of the bullshit rumours on BF). Will be interesting to see if he's right."

From the Brisbane Board.

Would be a huge call to take Swift so early but it could pay off big time.

Well, if nothing else it provides a little entertainment, which is what 99.99% of rumours on big footy end up doing, as they do little else.

I believe I have said that Swift at #5 was not worth talking about, not because I would never be up for the risk but I couldn't see the club taking the risk. Honestly I still can't, but who knows, I was basing that judgement on previous years and the club has changed many staff over the last year.

I don't think it is likely and is probably just a BF rumour, but it would take massive stones to do it.

EDIT: I should also mention that we are supposedly taking Yarran because we spent far more time interviewing him than anyone else, and according to other "inside" sources also we are taking Sidebottom assuming Rich and NicNat don't slide. Surely one of them is right, right? So it would be quite hilarious if we took Ziebell or Hurley or Trengove etc and all the Essendon rumours were wrong.

Its a new AFL plan that is yet to be released. This year we are taking all the players we have spoken to at pick 5.:D
Have to say that the rumours around this year are not as strong as the David Myers vibe last year.

Its hard to filter out the ones that seam reasonable to the ones that are clearly "BS" these days...

I thought Rhys'ey was a definite last year... Spewing now!

Think of them all as BS unless they come from someone you know who knows.

So far we are taking Hurley, Swift, Yarran and Sidebottom without fail all from reliable sources.

Same as Gumby was going home, prior to his signing, as those BF posters knew his parents.

I would really like us to take Tom Swift with our first pick, has star written all over him, as alot of people know, their is still some height left in the draft, in the second and third rounds, so one of Jayden Post, Jordan Lisle, Tom Lynch, Jordan Jones available with our 2nd round pick.

Why does he have star written all over him?

He hasn't played since under 16's so what are these star qualities?

The ability to come back from one knee reconstruction, then for another one to completely ruin his chances of being drafted, his will to be fit and ready for attending draft camp, after doing his knee earlier in the year, he has the will to succedd, he was a star in many sports at school is a leader in his own right, and has all the attributes to become one of the best players in the league.

just to name a few;)

McCarthy rates Swift as being on par with Rich but do we really need another injury prone player, especially with what will be our best pick for quite a while??

I just watched Sloane's YouTube highlights and was pretty impressed. What number is this kid likely to be taken at?

Those are not star qualities on their own but certainly are admirable qualities.

Many average players possess the same qualities.

Star players usually have ALL the required attributes and since he hasn't played in about 2 years, who knows if he has them at this grade or not.

Mark Bolton had those qualities.

Have you ever seen Swift play?

The Myers decision was out about 2 weeks prior to the draft. I can tell you for a fact that clubs believe watts, Rich, Vickery and Natanui will be the top 4and Essendon is the unknown who are keeping cards close to chest. Hurley was the rage before DC were his results poor enough to sway Essendons thinking?

If swift has injury concerns I dont want him.

Not even a cool last name will get him across in my books!

I dont think there is a huge difference between sidebottom and hartlett and rich. Obviously rich has been the stand out i don’t think there is a huge gap between them from the limited footage ive seen (many may disagree i do rate rich as best but not by a country mile). So if they rated swift equal to rich in 16s (with boys) why would we even consider getting a injury prone player who is = to rich 2 years ago :S doesn’t make sense to consider the thought to me. there’s very good reasons that swift could slide to 2nd rounder due to injury and ability to play with the faster and more physical game with men.

Hopefully we pick up Hartlett. It'd be very nice to add a quick, smart footballer, with great hands into the middle. Could become that A grade midfielder we've been wanting for a while now. Interesting to read the comments on regards to his skills and how good they are, because whenever iv'e seen him play that was that last thing I was impressed with we're his kicking skills (although I have only seen him play a few times + highlights).

Watching the Vic M vs. WA game, Hurley played on Klause for the second half and although he wasn't beaten, Klause did out lead Hurley a couple of times which isn't impressive because Klause doesn't exactly have great pace. It didn't help that there were great kicks from Rich and Lucas to him, but he did trail him a few times.

That being said, I'm still a massive fan of his and would be happy if we picked him up.
