Steele's beep and 3km time trial is something that really impressed me too, but building a bigger fitness base is probably the easiest part of your game that you can improve once you get to an AFL club.
That's why i really don't think it's an issue for Ziebell, as after a few pre-seasons at AFL level, his endurance would obviously improve, and his beep test would be at the 14+ mark.
One reason why i prefer Steele is because he has that 'gamebreaker' part to his game, and he can just have patches of dominance.
From when i've seen Ziebell, he really didn't stand out or do anything that made me go "Wow." To me, he just looked like a good, natural footballer. But Sidebottom looks like he has a lot more upside.
I agree that building a better fitness base is the easiest thing to do but the kids who already have the the endurance running in their genes always end up on top. It is part of what makes elite players like Judd, Crawford etc stand out above the rest.
