Watching the Vic M vs. WA game, Hurley played on Klause for the second half and although he wasn't beaten, Klause did out lead Hurley a couple of times which isn't impressive because Klause doesn't exactly have great pace. It didn't help that there were great kicks from Rich and Lucas to him, but he did trail him a few times.
.

I always thought that too, but then he pulled out a sub 3 (2.95s) at WA state screening.

That being said, I'm still a massive fan of his and would be happy if we picked him up.

thats the thing though, at AFL level he will have to play on forwards who are getting it kicked to them by the best in the business. Hurley does look awesome at junior level but what will happen when he plays at afl level and his opponent is getting consistently hit with pin point passes.

his speed will be worked on at essendon but i have my doubts whether he will ever be able to keep up with the main forwards, he will always be exploited for pace

Seen him where?

And you said we shouldn't pick up Yarran because of the risk it involves as he may never be a pure mid. That means no Swift because of his two serious knee injuries.

Comparing Yarran to Swift is ridiculous, one is a pure midfielder 9Swift) one is a small forward that MIGHT be a midfielder.

Didn't answer his question - where have you seen Swift play before and where?
As a matter of fact, after watching that tape he looks the complete package, makes the choice at 5 all the more difficult...

The only position Swift's played in the last 2 years is defense for Claremont Colts.

Swift was a pure midfielder 2 years ago, very hard to say exactly what he is now.

Stop trying to play the expert and picking and choosing between guys that all are, essentially, very good prospects.

Gun, which is why ideally he'd be my pick at pick 5, but if not as I said before, I want a midfielder

And if you keep repeating it everytime someone has a different opinion i will bloody red card you
Enough is enough!

I had seen him before. Swift is a must for the EFC

Why keep up the BS. Now you are saying you have been out watching under 16 footy ?
Give up the lies and admit the only place you have seen him is on you tube!!

Listen Bomber. I understand that you believe that Swift is the best player available for us and so on. He looks very good in the youtube video, I agree, but why lie about seeing him play? I think I understand what you are trying to do. You are picking a player with potential (but a risk) and hoping he turns into a star and tell us "I told you he will be a star". Your observations arn't that great and it is evident by your comments about Welsh earlier on in the year. Now he is one of our most significant players.

Ant, I have liked Hartlett for a while but have not really been able to comment on much about him as I have only been able to see him play when he came to Victoria for the Champs. What type of player do you see him becoming in the mould of? I did like his skills and his pace is what im most impressed by.

He reminds me a bit of Simon Black.

He reminds me a bit of Simon Black.

Solid comparison, but Hartlett's a bit quicker and Black uses the ball slightly better IMO.

I'd say Hartlett's more like Adcock from the Lions. Both like to back themselves when running down the wing, both have very good footy smarts & they both have cool heads on their shoulders at such young ages.

Well I was just watching the player review of Tayte Pears on BomberTV and Campo seems pretty sure that he'll play KPD and take the big power forwards. Would this mean we'd be unlikely to draft Hurley or Trengove?
