PICK 71: Liam Anthony 190cm, 90kg, Midfielder.
ROOKE DRAFT 1: Broc McCauley, 201cm, 94kg, Ruckmen
ROOKIE DRAFT 2: Sam Mcgarry, 186cm, 77kg, Midfielder

I like your picks/thoughts HFF. But I get the feeling we will use one of our late picks to redraft Hislop. And I wouldn't mind that as we never really got the opportunity to see if he has what it takes.

yeah, have been talking with a mate of Broc McCauley's (AFLQ) ruckmen, and he was telling me that he (Broc) came second in the AFLQ reserves league B&F despite playing all games in the seniors bar the 7 he played in the reserves, he would be a superstar in the ruck, and at a ripe age of 21-22, would be a real good get, being mature aged, is up to nearly 100kg+,

any ways, are we going to select Hislop with a ND pick, or in the rookie draft,

Depends on what Hislop chooses...

If he chooses to be in the ND, then he probably is aiming to be picked up by whoever wants him, and therefore isn't too worried about not been picked up by Essendon.

If he chooses PSD, then that will indicate that he wants to be picked up by us, or whoever he wishes really.

Dream Draft..

Pick 5: Daniel Rich
Pick 23: Phil Davis
Pick 55: Dayne Beams
Pick 71: Mitch Banner

All would be sliders, but the scary thing is its possible. Essendon have shown plenty of interest in Davis, and he along with Rich (Beams could probably too, but may be given time in Bendigo for a while) could step in and play round 1. Hopefully Banner can work on getting his kicking to a good standard as he is a ball magnet.

Dayne Beams at 55 you are dreaming there now touting him as a first round prospect , and hed be close to being the most ready out of these boys along with rich to play AFL footy physically hes a solid mid

You think that is shooting you down in flames?

Merv

I didnt select Banner at pick 55.

Any reference to his kicking skills should have highlighted HFF's original post.

And anyway you dont expect Pick 55's kicking skills to be as good as Pick 10's.

Beams will not go first round, he is probably going to fit somewhere in the early third. As I did state, each player I have selected would have to have slided for us to be able to take them at that pick. Wierder things have happened then a hard at it midfielder with iffy skills sliding.

PICK 55 is pure speculative i would say, but maybe one of Riley milne, rory sloan, mitch banner might still be available.

I would be happy with Mitch Banner at 55.

yaco.

HFF selected 3 players at pick 55, you singled out Banner.

Why are you being so precious about my saying that Knights wouldn't want him?

Dream draft...

Pick 5: Daniel Rich

That's all that will be needed for my dream draft.

Firstly, they're not touting Beams as a first round pick if "they" refers to knowlegable people in the football industry (or not that I know of, feel free to link me to anyone credible saying he will go first round). If "they" refers to BigFooty then maybe they are, but they generally don't have a huge clue with the excpetion of a few knowlegable posters (at least in regards to drafting).

Secondly, few clubs ever draft players early simply because they are ready to play AFL. Rich is one of the most physically ready to play senior football from all reports, but no one would draft him over someone they thought had more skill and potential simply because he is ready to go the next year. He will be a high draft pick because he is a skilled, smart footballer, the fact he will be ready sooner rather than later is simply a bonus.

Beams is nowhere near as skilled as Rich and plenty of other highly rated youngsters, so the fact he is more solid and developed than many kids isn't going to shoot him up the order. It would be a brave (or stupid depending on your view) club that took him in the first round.

Having said that the one thing you probably got right (through no fault of your own) is that he will go before pick 55 and we won't get a chance to look at him.

Ok and how would you know "THEY" arnt touting him as a first round selection because kevin sheehan "our" national talent manager did in his article on afl.com, and someone from the collingwood board i was reading said that he received an emal from emma quayle saying collingwood are very keen on him at 11 now shes not recruiter but im sure she would have a little more insight then you!And have you actually seen him play?would be so interesting to know if you have :D

Well, then I stand corrected if your talent manager did. And I realise that a couple of people from the Collingwood board speculated on him but I seriously doubt they would take him at pick 11. As for Emma Quayle I respect her opinion, but unless I see it in print written by her, I don't care who says they recieved what email.

As for seeing Beams play, not in person no, and I never claimed to be an expert on him (or on the draft in general), but you have little evidence to back up your claim that people are seriously looking at him in the first round (or even top 20) and most knowlegable people I know or have read didn't have him anywhere near round 1.

I'm not going to argue over Dayne as he isn't that high on my priorities list, but I will say this, him going high I will believe when I see.

You could have responded to HFF's post at the time and suggested that Knights wouldn't approve of Banners's kicking skills.

Who knows - Knights may object to the other 3 players kicking skills.

At the end of the day, I have full faith in EFC's recruiting in the last 4 years and I am certain that they will draft wisely.

I would imagine that Beams will be selected in the first or second round or he would have signed for the GC.

I don't imagine that he would take the chance of a club saying that we may draft you in the third, fourth or fifth round.

All will be revealed on November 29.

i rest my case you have never seen him play, wow these knowledgable people you must be recruiters  also evidence what evidence do you have of anyone going in the first round know one knows what will happen until the 29th, all predictions on this never seem to happen not even close to what happens on the day . Anyway good day enki:thumbsu:

On the draft.. Read that Hislop has nominated himself for the national draft. Regardless of what he has done in the past i think he will end up being a terrific player. Looks like we wont be redrafting him, unless everyone passes on him which i can't see happening.. Was hoping we may have reclaimed him in the pre season draft!

Ah well lets hope we make the right decision with 5!
