David Dickson, the coach of Vic metro, was glowing in his assessment of Watts this morning.

In comparison to Kreuzer he said that while Kreuzer is a top talent, he is more workmanlike, while Watts is 194cms, sidesteps opponents and has the ability to change games in 5 minutes.

He believes his basketball background has given him enormous evasive instincts and he is a massive talent.

He didn't appear to be giving a biased view but was quite taken back by his talent and believes he will be an outstanding prospect.

true, but isn't Watts a CHF..we have Gumbleton

I was just giving feedback on a player that is growing in popularity, not saying we should pick him up.

Having said that IF he was still there at our pick and we thought he was the best player, it wouldn't bother me too much if we picked him up.

Gumby can play back also and i'm starting to think it might be a "safer" way to ease him back into footy.

I don't think Watts is just a forward either.

I've got little doubt that he could be a very good defender if played there.

Shouldn't you know seeing you've read.. oops, watched most of these kids
BAHAHAHA... too true kelvin;)

some people have got some short memories on this board:rolleyes:

Although I do believe that Gumby could play back through watching highlights of his WA days...

It'll be interesting won't it?

Natanui, Rich, Hurley, Suban, Yarran and now this Watts

We can't possibly lose

Interesting.

I'm really out of the loop as far as actually watching the kids this year.

It sounds like he has some pretty special talents at this stage.

Has he actually played back or are you saying you think he has the attributes?

I'm not going to lie, I haven't seen a hell of a lot of them either.

I haven't seen him played down back, but anyone with his speed off the mark and contested ability would start fairly well equipped.

Playing down back might allow him to run a little bit more as well.

Few things which really impresse me when i saw Ziebells profile in the prospects

Jack Ziebell Utility 188cm
Murray 28/02/1991 82kg
Ziebell is a utility who performed well in a variety of roles for Vic Country in the 2007 NAB AFL Under-16 Championships. He averaged 17 disposals per game with his ball use the feature of his play, hitting the target with an elite 89% efficiency. He laid the third most tackles of any division one player and will play for Murray in the 2008 TAC Cup.

The more i hear about this kid the more excited i get, would be awsome if we picked him up with our 2nd rounder.

Apparantly he's considered as a Top 10 pick, so I doubt that will happen as much as I would also like it to.

I hope your right. If so, Daniel Rich, we'll be waiting for you.....:D:D:D

Haha, now all is left is Fremantle and West coast to let him slip....

Anyway, heres some very interesting information about Watts...

Jack is about 194-5cms. Great football knowledge, one of the best contested marks going round with amazing skills.
2.72 20m sprint - better that any player in last years draft, and one the best vertical leap of anyone at this AIS. The guy is a freak.

Wouldn't mind taking him now for our first pick.

Edit - More info on Watts by scouts.

One recruiter believes that by the end of the year — "if not by the end of the carnival" — Watts will be considered the best young prospect in the country. Another, still firmly in the Naitanui camp, described Watts as this year's shooting star. Another went further still. "If the draft was on tomorrow and I had first pick, I'd be choosing him," he said. "Without hesitation. He's just a natural player, he's an athlete and he's a very strong competitor.

He sounds really good, have only seen a bit of him so can't really make a call seeing as though I haven't seen a hell of a lot of him, but he sounds like a goal-kicking forward that has great agility and can take a nice contested mark...Here is a bit more info on Watts...

http://afl.com.au/News/NewsArticle/tabid/208/Default.aspx?newsId=61985 -Jack Watts: Jack is a star. He’s one of our AIS boys and he’s also a very talented basketballer. He wanted to balance both footy and basketball through the scholarship program, but in the end he has chosen to go for football because his workload was just too great. He was a star in Vic Metro’s win Vic Country. He was a little bit quiet against Tasmania, but obviously very prominent against South Australia.
He kicked five goals, had 17 disposals and took three really big contested marks. He has great agility, great lateral movement and the ball just melts into his hands.
There has been a lot of talk about the WA boys and how talented they are, but Wattsy is a great kid and is right in that mix.

http://afl.com.au/News/NewsArticle/tabid/208/Default.aspx?newsId=60277 -Jack Watts - He finished with 12 possessions and booted four goals, including the match-winner.

He is really gaining some momentum, he would be in that big bunch of kids just outside Big Nait & Rich...Some of them players include Hurley, Suban, Hartlett, Walters, Yarran, Cornelius, McKernan, etc...

Re: Lonergan - Why Sheedy Had To Go!

Very early days, but you might get your wish, as i mentioned in the tanking thread.

I have been told by someone that knows, that Dodoro is very keen on Yarran.

How good's the source Merv..? What part of the club is he from..?

First class source but not involved with our club.

He isn't saying we are going to pick him and tbh i doubt any club would have settled on anyone yet, rather that Dodoro likes him a lot.

I will find out more closer to the draft.

I dont want to pre-empt a winning streak but taking a look at our fixture there is a real chance that we will win at least 3 more games. We may well escape the bottom 4 and finish in a very similar position to last year. Pick 5 or 6 this year will yield a very high quality player and it seems that after the first 2 (natanui and rich) are gone, the next 5-7 picks are clouded in uncertainty. I wouldnt be too fussed if we finished 11th or so as it is just as likely to net a good player as 13th position. Hurley the early leader for me. Cannot say Ive seen these kids regularly. Ill be going down to watch the Jets vs the Stingrays this weekend.

Oh ok, keep us updated with any new updates, possibly in the Windy Hill section just in case any other club's recruiting managers are involved with this site...;)
