You are 100% correct there. Finishing 9th or 10th and then picking the wrong player just kills you over and over again. Believe me, I would know!

Exactly, I am happy to come 12th or 11th, but 9th or 10th is just useless. Not in the finals, and a waste of a year anyway. I'd be happy with pick 5 or there abouts, although I still see a chance in coming bottom 2 and snaring Rich.

I don't really see how. WCE want Rich and can possibly win only 2 more games for the season looking at their fixture. We can still finish bottom 3 if we don't win another game for the season, but I see the Melbourne game as a win the rest are either losses or 50/50's.
Get over it, we won't finish bottom 2 and we won't get Rich! Any pick in the top 10 (we're likely to have pick 4-6) should warrant us a great player for the future. So what, we won't get a Natanui or Rich, but there's still plenty of quality outside of them two. Some may even become better players, so stop your whining and just enjoy the wins while they last!

I can see WCE winning 2-3 games, they have a decent run home, Freo will win a few (well surely they will, they are a decent side). I see us coming 3rd last anyway and missing out on Rich anyway, but we are still in with a chance!

Wasn't Paddy Ryder predicted to be picked in the top 3 in the year he was drafted?
If so, do you think Nick-Nat draft position can possibly drop the same way as Paddy?
Any talk of it being a bad thing moving up the ladder is completely and utterly ridiculous.
Of the guys that played today, only Peverill, Lucas, Fletcher and possibly Lloyd won't be around for our 2011 aim of a tilt at a flag on the basis of age alone. Ramanauskas possibly as well.
What did they do today? Not a whole lot.
Every win we get signifies the further development of our young side, and will give them confidence in their ability to play at AFL level.
We're going to end up with a top 10 pick regardless of what we do between now and the end of the season. We'll get a quality player.
In addition, who's saying we won't get who we rate at 4-5 at 7-8? There are huge differences in how clubs rate different players.
You've got no idea if you want us losing games to move up the draft order 1 or 2 spots.

We are three games clear of the bottom 3 , how exactly are we going to finish bottom two ? Forget about your man crush on Rich. He is not coming in our direction.
On top of that you can pick up decent players with picks 5 to 15. Father and son picks aside Geelong still picked up Bartel at 8 , Corey at 8,Steve Johnson at 24,Kelly at 17,Mackie at 7 and Sellwood at 7.
It is only useless if you stuff it up and that is a posability for anyone to do in any spot.

That was a fantastic win, and will do wonders for the development of many of our younger players (how good was Jetta!!!!)..... enhancing our team much more than getting a slightly better draft pick come years end.
West Coast and Freo will not win more than 4 games. The tanks are started, the barrels, loaded.
I'm loving what I'm seeing in our kids at the moment. And I'm happy to see them finish 12th - 9th if it means we keep playing good football and keep winning games!

Exactly. The kids are getting us the wins which is the most pleasing aspect out of all of this. How good is it for them to win a few games in a row after the hell of a start we had this year. Credit to Knights as well i think. A nice little boost in the back of their heads going into next year i would assume.

The thing that I have been happiest about with Knights is the way in which he gives the kids key roles (e.g. Myers on Hodge) and lets them stay with those jobs, even though they are getting slaughtered (Hodge BOG). It's much better to let them get killed by the best, than to give them the job, then back out when their man gets a touch, or kicks a goal, and give to job to a Pev or a JJ. These kids will develop more quickly than at other clubs (e.g. Brisbane - Polkinghorne was on the ground for 43% yesterday with no injury) because their first 20 or so games are head to head with the elite of the competition rather than spending 25% in the forward pocket, 10% on the wing, and 10% in the back pocket with the rest on the bench.

I think the best thing Knights has done is stick with the young guys.

There is less of a chance to stuff up on a higher pick than a mid first round pick. If we come 9th or 10th I will be livid. I don't mind coming 12th, but really if we are not going to play finals (which we won't) it serves us better for the future to not come 10th. As for Geelong, well they don't have Dodoro and they don't pick spuds like Bradley!
