There is less of a chance to stuff up on a higher pick than a mid first round pick. If we come 9th or 10th I will be livid. I don't mind coming 12th, but really if we are not going to play finals (which we won't) it serves us better for the future to not come 10th. As for Geelong, well they don't have Dodoro and they don't pick spuds like Bradley!

Kane Tenace worked out really well for them in the same draft;) Have a look at that years draft, there where lots of ordinary picks come out of it. Maybe if we did not destroy Bradley by trying to turn him into a defender it may not have been as bad.
What you are saying is crap. There is just as much chance of stuffing up pick 1 as there is of stuffing up pick 10.
I am not real fan of Dodoro but since he has been left to work the draft and recruting his way and been taken out of the match day roles the results have been better. On top of that Merv Keane looks after all of the day to day things as far as the recruiting side goes.

Tenace.

Freo's forwardline is as good as the best around. They should win a few games coming home imo.

Yep they have Pavlich and who ?
There is a reason why they have only won two games and regualry miss the finals. They are an ordinary side!

Pavlich, Tarrant (who is a AA player), Farmer, then Mayne. That is a pretty decent forwardline.

Tenace was better than Bradley at least! Pick 10 is just rubbish, I'd much rather get pick 4-6, then go into the finals on the back of that. We need good picks this year in a strong draft. This is the last chance that we can get the very best kids before GC come in and wreck it.

Tenace is an outside player who can't hit a target or use his pace to advantage. He is pretty useless. We will either get a top 8 pick or we will make the finals. We will be fine as I am sure the better draft watchers can rattle off 8 top prospects that would add a lot to our team.

Look there is no point going round and round on this. As it is it won't impact much this year as it is a very deep draft. But I mean this our first pick better like heck be a midfielder or I'll dead set lose it. Now that we will get pick 4-6 or thereabouts, Yarran is more appealing though PROVIDING and I mean that, he will move into the midfield.

Subtle yet effective. I love it.:D

How much better is Tenace going to be ? He will get delisted without ever cementing a permenant spot in Geelongs side.
As far as picks go what makes pick 10 or 9 or 8 or 11 so crap ? Plenty of good players have come out of this range. Players at the top end of the draft are no more likely to get you into the top four than players in the mid range. It is what you do with the draft over all the picks that counts. In reality finding the gems with your second, third and fourth round picks is actually the key to moving forward.
And as far as the GC coming in and wrecking the draft no one knows exactly what the deal will be yet anyway. Yes they will more than likely get a few picks at the top end but the format has yet to be decided. At the moment the only real concesion they have will be unlimited acess to the Queensland kids.

I think you have already lost it and if our first pick is not a midfielder you can bugger of and join Sanj in never never land ;)

The only one that I wouldn't mind that is not a midfielder would be Hurley, that is it. I do not want Watts because as good as he is we have to trust Gumbleton will come good. Swift, Yarran, Suban will be fine for the 1st pick. Hope we pick a small forward with our last pick.

From what i keep hearing on the D+T bord picks 4-10 you could throw a blanket over, aso 3 of the top 4 are meant to KPP's, so if we are so desperate to get a Midfielder with our first pick then it wont matter if we finish 4th last or in he 8.

I'm gonna say this as nice as possible.

Shut up.

Why are you so angry about us getting pick 9 instead of 2?

If you wanna get good draft picks instead of wins. Piss off and go for Carlton.

Sorry Merv if that is a bit harsh. But it had to be said.

I think you showed remarkable restraint :D

I am actually gonna do a back flip, and say that I hope we pick up Hurley if we do finish in the lower etchiolonce this year, As he has been said he can hold down FB or CHB, well if thats the case then Hurley CHB and Ryder CHB, that looks like a daunting combination in 4 - 5 years, i'd be happy with that.

sure I would love to see a midfielder walk into our side and do what some of the other first year midfielders have done, who wouldnt enjoy a Selwood, or a Palmer walking into our midfield, what do we need to bolster, KP backs, and in fact our mids look quite good, With McVeigh leading from the front with Watson and Reimers also helping him extract the ball out to the runners in Stanton, Dempsey (When fit), Houli (When fit) etc. Im pretty excited, Our forward half looks dangerous and has plenty of fire power, looking to the future, with Neagle out of the G/S and Gumbleton (When he is finally fit) at CHF, looks dangerous, with Jetta under Neagles feet and Monfries sitting inbetween these two damaging talls, looks like a handy line up now doesnt it.

All i am saying is that KP backs are the way to go, or small defenders, (but whos gonna waste a first rounder on one of them, only us [David Myers]) we need them as our youngsters havent come on as we would have liked, think what you may, but i am all for Hurley.

I agree that we need a good Key position Back. We have Ryder and Pears but after that there's not too much in the way of youth. I don't think Johns or Lee will make the grade as a key back. Daniher and Hooker will be forwards if anything. Ryder is impressive but I'm still not 100% sure Pears is cut out for a key position back role. Also, Ryder may move into the ruck/midfield. If we delist Michael and then Fletch goes down injured next year, Pears would need to hold down the full-back spot. I'd love for us to draft Hurley as cover. Hurley if available IMO.

And Myers is a mid. ;)

Yeah, am thinking that Lee wont make it, Jonhs is not a footballer, more a mock hologram of one, I would love for us to keep ryder at CHB, but as you said your self, could become an Adam Goodes type player, seems to have a decent engine, and has bery good hands aswell, Richo type role maybe, Is Pears really that good, went to the game on Sunday at Casey Fields to see him and Hooker, and was disappointed not to see pears, Hooker, looked lost, but thats no the point, Saw a young 21 Silvagni playing for Casey by the name of Alex, seems a very likely type, held his own against the very powerfully built Jonhs in a couple of 1-on-1s, and was always looking to be creative, is only 192 cm, but then so is Max Hudgton i think.

thoughts.

Oh and Myers was drafted as a "running back flanker" ;)

I think Myers was drafted as a midfielder more than a running defender. He was hyped up as a back flanker because he played there the year before being drafted. We drafted him to play midfield IMO.

yeah, well thats fair enough. asked before, saw a young kid by the name of silvagni (alex) running around in the scorpions, same postion as the great stephen, a full back, creative, tall (192cm) not sure on his weight, but seems a likely type, could pick him up in the pre season draft, he was really good against jonhs.
