but jsut say we finish bottm do we go with natauni or a midfielder
Mate, it is a tough decision. From what I have heard about Natanui, he seems like a genuine midfielder with his run around the ground. Apparently the potential on this kid is enormous. Lets hope we dont win the spoon so we dont need to worry about picking him up. I am more interested in the Hurley/Rich debate.

yeh i hope that 2. but havin another good ruckman would b handy

If you're asking yourself 'who could we trade to get a top 10 pick?' try thinking about who you would trade away our top 10 pick for? (probably not too many) it's easy to be less biased when you're looking at it that way...

Just a quick question to follow up... Are any other teams likely to get a priority this year as well? I mean the ones at the start (the good ones) Any help people can give much appreciated (sorry if it's been posted already) Thanks.

Daniel Rich is our man :)

Essendon recruiters - take note !!!

we need midfield.
hang on... we NEED midfield (that's better)
the kid is tipped to go no.2 - so don't stuff this one up
forget Naitanui. Ryder is an AA ruckman of the future and Naitanui is another player we don't need.
i know we'll finish bottom 2 because they're tanking it for sure this year.
keep up the good work.

Re: Daniel Rich is our man :)

Poor comment.

did you see the team Knights put out there?

Jason Johnson... Damien Peverill... are things starting to make sense now?

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Peverill was injured (jaw), as was JJ (calf). Neither played for Bendigo.

Re: Our Saviour?

Gumbleton? We have our forwards covered with Neagle likely to be our next FF. We do need a ruckman as Laycock does not seem up to it sadly. Tall backman is certainly needed though. That is why I am being persuaded to Hurley in the upcoming draft even if we have the option to take Mr. Rich:cool: Look forward to seeing footage of these two kids later in the year.

It's hypothetical but Tippett would have played as a resting ruckman in our forward line much like Hille and Laycock have done in patches this year. Essentially, Gumbleton hasn't played footy for 12 months, he's played less than 10 senior games, he could be great but I wouldn't rely on the unknown.

As for Hurley, it would be fantastic however I think our midfield is the weakest area in the team, premierships are won on the back of midfields. A project player such as Hooker seems like a waste to me. Could've looked at drafted a player who may actually play for the Essendon Football Club... how long will Hooker stay on the list for, mandatory 2 years?

Demons and Carlton... although if Carlton win a game or two more they can't.

please start talking about *Daniel Rich* now

And which one of Richmond's monster forwards do you think he should have matched up on? Maybe he could have run up the wing with Richo?

Hang on, just because Knights isn't playing a couple of guys - one who's 29 this year and the other who's over 30. Both of who are well and truly not the players they once were - Doesn't mean we're tanking.

Knights has committed to getting games into our young stars of the future. He would have to be a simpleton to consistently play Johnson and Pev given our requirement to develop this list.

There is a difference between tanking and not being good enough. You would hardly say that at 2 and 1 we would be tanking against the Dogs but we lost by 30 points.

I wouldn't think that at 2 and 3 we would be tanking against collingwood on Anzac day but we lost by 73 points.

Even at 2 and 4 there was still enough time to challenge but we played disgustingly against port.

We're not tanking, we're just going through a process of re-building a disgustingly managed list. Finally after beeing in a downward spiral since 2002 someone has recognised this.

For what it's worth, I'd be happy with either Rich or Natinui.

Re: Daniel Rich is our man :)

We are not even good enough to throw games so tanking is out of the question - hope we never get to this stage!

Leave it to the cheating mob from Princess Park

Re: Daniel Rich is our man :)

If with finish 2 last then we will pick up hurley or however you spell his name. Or if Nat is there we will pick him. We have no chance at Rich because the efc drafting in the past 5 years have proven time and time again we only like tall players with our first picks. we keep getting more and more of them and not get a super class mid which is what we need... which is and has been our problem. I will have a sick feeling in my gut come draft that that once again we will go for a stupid tall that will take years to develop if at all aka Laycock or Keps.

Prove me wrong knighter and pick Rich or you are an idiot!

Carlton & Richmond are the only teams eligible. But Carlton only need 1 win or a draw to miss out; Richmond only need 1 win.

Demons and Carlton... although if Carlton win a game or two more they can't.

Melbourne are not eligible. They won 5 games last year (remember the round 22 Melb vs Carlton tank debacle?)

A project player such as Hooker seems like a waste to me. Could've looked at drafted a player who may actually play for the Essendon Football Club... how long will Hooker stay on the list for, mandatory 2 years?

Austin Lucy was delisted after only 1 year; so was Collard at Freo last year & I'm sure there are many other examples.... so it's possible to delist at the end of this season, although that would be naive given that he was taken as a development player, which suggests they weren't expecting an immediate output, and will give him every opportunity.

Agree, though, that perhaps our priorities in terms of player type appeared wrong with this selection, and that in retrospect another mid may have been preferable. I had hoped for a ruckman, but we ended up with Bellchambers later on anyway:thumbsu:

Re: Daniel Rich is our man :)

Some people are so loyal they can't even see it when it's right in front of them.

Knights has said quite openly he expects finals in 2010. This means that he's all but written off 2008 already. This years draft is preety good, above average.... not a superdraft but above average.

Being that we've a young list and the next few drafts are going to be compromised it wouldn't surprise me at all if we went after Rich and a priority pick. I don't like it any more than you but it's how you win flags in the modern age.

Just look at Hawthorn in 2004. They absolutely killed the draft... went in with a bag full of picks and now they're reaping the reward.

We're not 'tanking' per se, as that implies we're throwing games. All we're doing is playing a group for the future. If we wanted to win we'd be playing JJ, Mal and a few others. We'd not be dropping players for being lazy either... key players.

The club is already looking at the bigger picture and sees no point in playing people who won't be around in the next couple years when we take off. We're not 'tanking', we're just not playing our best team... we're playing the team we want to see in a few years from now.

Re: Daniel Rich is our man :)

No need to, would love to see him in the no5 jersey, at least he'll do the jumper proud..take note Stanton.

i wish everyone would get of his back. yeh he is struggling with the tag each week. but he is a good player for us. and wil b for years 2 come

I actually like him. I blame Dodoro and Sheedy for Stanton being as poor as he has been this year. He is a outside attacking midfielder. He will never ever be a no1 midfielder. That is Dodoro's fault for drafting way too many KPP.
