Guys any information on this kid name Matthew DeBoer or Hamish Hartlett ? Does who have watched them, are there the type of players we need?

In 17 games at WAFL colts level for Claremont he averaged 25 disposals, 5 hardball gets and 3 clearances per game and had a kicking efficiency of 73% which was in the average category. At the 2007 NAB AFL Under 18 Championships DeBoer averaged 17 disposals and five hard ball gets per game.

Hartlett is the younger brother of Adam who has been on Carlton's list for three years. But Hamish is a completely different player. While his brother is a key position type, Hamish is a midfielder who was prominent for South Australia in the 2006 NAB AFL Under-16 Championships. In that carnival he averaged 31 disposals and ranked No.1 for hardball gets and uncontested marks. He averaged 17 disposals in last years NAB AFL Under 18 Championships and made his senior SANFL debut late last season.

There are many players in the 21 -24 year age category in the minor leagues who have the ability to play AFL football.

You dont necessarily expect these players to be stars but they can be solid contributors.

You only have to look at Alwyn Davey, Harry Taylor and Aaron Davey as examples.

John Baird from Port Melbourne might be worth a shot. Played his early career at the Kangaroos before getting delisted. Consistently amongst the best players at Port and would probably be the premier VFL CHB in the competition.

Is about 24-25, has decent height, pace and the body to be an AFL footballer. Is a bit rough around the edges and has a bit of grunt. Think of Daniel Pratt and you've basically got him.

At the very least would be a decent back up to Paddy at CHB or if they decide to play Ryder more around the ground. Would also be handy when we need a third tall defender with some agility.

Would love to get Nicholas Naitanui (WA) with our first pick, Mitch Robinson (TAS) with our second pick, Matt Thomson (QLD) with our third pick and Luke Stanton with our last pick (VM)...Gives us a ruckman to support Hille in a few years in Naitanui, Mitch Robinson who will add a bit more class and good ball use to the squad, Matt Thomson will bring a bit more grunt to our midfield and Luke Stanton is a bit of a smokey, is in the AIS squad and is reported to have a bit of class about him...Just a rough guide for what I would like from the draft from the half way point of the season...

For me a really good draft if we secured less than 5 wins and came 15th would be: Daniel Rich, a tall in the mould of Mckernan, Trengove, Lynch, Ziebell or Watts, and a couple of young mids like DeBoer, Scully, Hartlett, Heyne, Blease, Hanneberry, Broadbent, Shiels, Suban and Zaharakis. But I maintain we pick best available and dont get hung up on chasing a particular player- we need as much quality as possible on our list.

I'm leaning towards Hurley, now.

With the way the LonerGUN played last night, and the way Hislop keeps coming on, plus Watson, and players like Reimers who like it tough rotating through there, I think Rich, as good as he will become, is not the missing link. Another key back, to go alongside Pears, possibly Hooker, possibly Lee, possibly Johns, and eventually Daniher will be very nice, and free Ryder up a bit more.
