Sampi was a star. He walked away from the game. It's a bit different. Sam Power and Xavier Clarke may not be stars, but they are still around.

Mark Bolton was around for 10 years and Daniel McAlister was around for a fair few too.

Sampi wasn't a star, he had one decent year, the other years were very very plain and ordinary. I still would've thought about picking him up in the PSD but I wouldn't have given him a top 10 pick that's for sure!

Ant/Foj, what do you think of Yarran, do you think it would be worthwhile us picking him up?

We havn't really got a genuine dangerous small forward with x-factor who can kick bags of goals. So I dont think it would be the worst thing if we were to pick him up. Look at Collingwood for example with Medhurst, Didak, Thomas ect

EDIT: Noticed he's kicked 21 goals in 6 matches for Swan Districts, quite impressive. This kid is growing on me.

We havn't really got a genuine dangerous small forward with x-factor who can kick bags of goals. So I dont think it would be the worst thing if we were to pick him up. Look at Collingwood for example with Medhurst, Didak, Thomas ect

EDIT: Noticed he's kicked 21 goals in 6 matches for Swan Districts, quite impressive. This kid is growing on me.

Not worth picking him up with Jetta, Davey and Lovett all on our list.
Much more important positions to cover rly.

I don't see those players kicking 30-40 goals a season, do you?

From what iv'e read Yarran would be able to do this. Just because he's indiginous, it doesn't mean he plays the same as the rest of the small indeginous boys.

Davey applies pressure and kicks a goal here and there.

Lovett plays more in the midfield these days.

Jetta, not noted as a goal kicker at junior level, more of a skillfull half forward/mid which is what im hoping he'll develop into.

Yarran has kicked 21 goals in 6 games. That's around 80 goals in a season if he keeps up his average. Do we have any small forwards who are capable of doing this?

Never mind the fact that he's been a very effective on baller as a junior, has a nice frame and what appears to be a pretty good tank.

Just because he's Aborginal and at senior level has had most of his success up forward doesn't group him with Jetta, Davey and Lovett.

For mine, he's the second best midfield option behind Daniel Rich provided Tom Swift doesn't pull out his under 16s form.

Whilst I agree we do need a genuine goal kicking small forward, I would much prefer us to draft either a midfielder or a KPP with our first pick and try to find a small forward later in the draft.

Very early days, but you might get your wish, as i mentioned in the tanking thread.

I have been told by someone that knows, that Dodoro is very keen on Yarran.

Very exciting player who is quick and skilled. At the moment he looks like a kid who is a top 10 pick. The only question mark i have is he is really only a player who is playing as a forward at the moment. That leaves the risk that he may or may not be a midfielder later on.
I don't mind the idea of picking becasue the kid can play , his skills are very good and he can do the freakish stuff. We would wan't to have a few mids in mind later on in the draft if we went this direction which is possible as there are some good mids (not Judd class but good quality) getting around in the TAC Cup.

I completely agree! I would hate to see a maybe midfielder with our first pick.

*quality* small forwards are gravy on top of a good team. But you can't build around them

Quality midfielders is what we need.

Well said. Honestly, I'd be more dissappointed if Yarran is picked than anyone else. I could cop Hurley as he is a outstanding prospect. I would rather a midfielder with our first two picks at least.

Completely agree, Suban is the way to go for mine if we miss out on Rich, I think Swift may be too much of a risk because of his serious injuries and there is a chance with his injuries that he may slide to around pick 18 - 20 which possibly we might have because of the pp or even better, if we actually traded for once.

Agreed, Suban suits out needs assuming Rich is taken or out of our pick range. Still a possibility that we'll get Rich though. Swift with pick 18 suits me well as well. Matt De Boer is a risky one but potentially could be a absolute steal at pick 3-5.

Is quicker than Jetta. His under age form is pretty much similar to Jetta or Rioli. A real livewire who has the knack for making the difficult look easy.

What i will say about this draft is there are a few genuine midfielders this year that will be around the pick 18 tp 30 area. There are a few good young kids who can use the footy on both sides and really know where to go to find the footy.

And where did i say i was saying we should draft Yarran ?
Someone ask me for an opinion on him so i gave it.To be honest there would be worse picks early on.Midfielders may well be the number one priority but Yarran can play.
We need tall defenders as well
