Wenger sums up the game perfectly here:

Too scared to take shots at the moment... Adebayor and Hleb need to be soundly whipped for not having the balls to go for goal when they have a chance.

In fairness Maik Taylor (not the dog who taggled Eduardo) had a pretty good game. Some of the saves were pretty good, but Arsenal should have had the match in the bag.

I thought the penalty was soft, but under the letter of the law, was there. IT's a shame for Chilchy, and definately a shame for Eduardo.​

I thought the letter of the law states he must have contact with the ball, and he did. I think it was sold beautifully by the Birmingham player, and Clichy looked like a ****, so the referee would have just assumed it was a penalty. Fair? No. Deserved? Yes.

It should have been put beyond doubt ages beforehand.

I think seeing the injury to eduardo and the state of his leg may have had impact on the players (gallas acting angrily).

This has the sydney game written all over it. Remember when we came back from 40 points down vs the swans, well their trainer had died during the game and the swans just stopped.

Actually, thats making excuses GR... Theo scored two magical goals after the accident. And we had shot after shot.

We lost because we have lost our drive to goal. Missed chances... jaysus.

And I still to this day do not accept that the Swans lost because their trainer died. You do not throw away a 40 point 3/4 lead.

Maybe i am,because i'm still pretty pissed off but if we lose the title to Man U, this is the game i'll be coming back to.

The only real striker we have right now is Adebayor. We can't just play with him. Bendter ain't ready yet, Walcott has to now step up to the plate. RVP won't be back for another 2-3 weeks and Eduardo is out for the rest of the season if not longer. I'm hoping we don't drop it after a wonderful season.

I quit playing Football as a kid for the exact reason Eduardo has a compound fracture to his leg now. Being kicked in the shins week in week out isn't such a fantastic feeling.

I was watching that gamein the boozer and in context, the tackle really didn't look that bad. It was only when he didn't get up and you saw the look on Fabregas and others faces that it became apparent. They wouldn't replay it because of how bad the close ups are.

A few things -

1) I doubt he'll play again, and if he does, he won't have the zip that made him what he was. Crying shame.

2) I honestly don't think the Birmingham boy meant it. It wasn't a Keano on Haaland moment.

3) Jimmy 'Hammer Of The Frogs' McFadden does seem to save his best for games against France or French-influenced teams.

4) IIRC the SWans bloke didn't die until we had kicked plenty of the 7 goals we needed back. We certainly had the momentum. And it was also Archy's 250th.

A lot of work to do now for Wenger, must juggle his players well to take the league title. I think he really wants to win in Europe, which may jepordise our title chances. It will come down to the Man U & Chelsea away games!

Actually, Harry, I think the opposite... I don't think Arsene is overly worried about any of the side tournaments... beating AC at home is one of the hardest tasks in football... I wouldn't be surprised if he just rolls the dice with an experimental side for that game.

But yes, it will come down to the Chelsea and Man U away games... drop that one at Man U and the title is pretty much out of reach... goal difference is too substantial.

Eduardo determined to return from injury

Arsenal striker Eduardo said on Sunday he was determined to recover from a broken leg and play again after accepting his season, including Euro 2008, was over.

The Brazilian-born Croatia striker had an operation late on Saturday night after breaking his left leg early in Arsenal's Premier League match at Birmingham City, which ended 2-2.

"I am unsure at the moment of the extent of the injury and how long I will be out of action for but I know that I won't be able to play for Arsenal for the rest of the season or be ready in time for the Euros this summer," Eduardo said.

"But I'm not worried about that. My concentration and determination is on making as quick a recovery as possible. I am determined to overcome this injury," he told Arsenal's website (www.arsenal.com).

Eduardo was set to play for Croatia in the European Championship finals in Austria and Switzerland in June.

The incident in which he broke his leg was so horrific that television stations declined to show the replay, although Sunday's News of the World had graphic photographs on its inside pages.

"I don't remember the incident very well and it's not something that I want to see again on television or in the newspapers," said Eduardo, who turns 25 on Monday.

"All I remember is that when I fell, I looked down at my foot and it had turned the other way. The rest is just a blank. It was an unfortunate situation but these things can happen in football."

His Croatia team mate Vedran Corluka said he was close to tears when he saw the incident.

"When I saw that thing happen to him I wanted to cry because he's such a good guy and he didn't deserve that," the Manchester City player told Sky Sports News.

"The player made that tackle but I think he didn't want to do that, he was just unlucky on that tackle." Birmingham's Martin Taylor, who made the tackle, was sent off.

Eduardo, born in Rio de Janeiro, is one of a number of Brazilians who have played for different countries after moving abroad.

He was barely known in his homeland until 2004 when he made his full international debut against Ireland. He joined Arsenal from Dinamo Zagreb in July.

The GD is 4 goals.

We still have aston villa,wigan,middlesbrough,chelsea,Bolton,Liverpool, Manure,reading,Derby,Everton,Sunderland.
If we can come out of those with all wins and 1 draw, we will win it.

Don't worry guys, West Ham are still to play Man U again. Just lock away the 3 points for the Hammers already, and you have an extra cushion.

Prompt Action Averted Amputation For Eduardo.

A medical expert has confirmed just how horrific the injury to Eduardo was by revealing that only swift action by Arsenal's medical team prevented the Croatian from needing an amputation.

Arsenal striker Eduardo could have lost his foot after the tackle by Martin Taylor in the game against Birmingham on Saturday, but for the prompt treatment of the club's medical staff. That is the view of leading osteopath and physiotherapist, Tim Allardyce.

He told BBC Radio Five Live that the injury was so severe that even intensive surgery may not be enough to enable Eduardo to make a full recovery.

"You can lose the foot, simple as," Allardyce said.

"Once the foot dislocates like that, it can badly damage the blood vessels and it's very, very serious.

"The foot needs to be relocated immediately or almost immediately to save it and emergency surgery is completely necessary.

"Imagine your worst ankle sprain and make it about 10 times worse and you're getting close to where Eduardo is.

"He could be out for several months. We'd expect a normal person to be out for about six months.

"With the level of fitness he'll need to get back to, it could be anywhere around the nine months mark."

He added: "Potentially, the bones will heal but there's all the other damage around the area, such as the ligament damage, the tendon damage, the soft tissue damage, the damage to the joint capsule.

"He's going to have to do an awful lot of work to regain full mobility and strength to the ankle to get him up to the standard of playing international football. Whether he can do that or not, I'm not sure."

Allardyce also revealed that someone suffering such an injury could well experience psychological trauma too - which could prevent them from putting themselves in a similar situation in the future.

"Once you've sustained such a serious injury, you'll always tend to be aware of it before you regain full strength and confidence," he said.

"It will have a big psychological effect, certainly for the next year, maybe for several months after that."

We have a real fight on our hands after a very ordinary performance against Villa. Villa outplayed us and we were very lucky to escape with a draw (even though we scored both goals!). Lets hope to regroup and get RVP back ASAP.
