Re: Warnock homeward bound

If Richmond are dumb enough to trade pick 8, they will get Warnock.

This is the only way he will go to a club other than Melbourne IMO.

Re: Warnock homeward bound

You're talking tough the same way you talked tough about Warnock even leaving Freo in the first place.

Fact is, we're in the box seat. We could offer him an extra 50k over what Richmond or Carlton want if he agrees to go to PSD. then you get nothing.

The only motivation for us to trade with you is if we want to use the PSD pick on someone else.

You're assuming that he is returning for money, then? Sure, money helps, but what if the choice is Melbourne (more money, no finals for 5 years) or Carlton (slightly less money, tapping it to Judd & Co, almost certain finals every year for next 5).

I don't think you are in the box seat to be honest.

Re: Warnock homeward bound

So why would he agree to go to Carlton or Rich for less money, and not play with his brother, when he can go to Melbourne without worrying at all about the trade process?

1. Melbourne has the risk of folding in the next 3 years, and then he'll have to go on to a third club.
2. Melbourne don't exactly have the best facilities.
3. Melbourne will most likely finish bottom two for the next two to three years.
4. He may well have a conscience and want Melbourne to offer a fair trade, which they may refuse to do.
5. Melbourne doesn't have any big name players of note that would draw Robbie towards Melbourne.

On the other hand he'll get big dollars, play with his brother and be at the same club as CC who wouldv'e mentored when he first came here. I think Chris Connoly may well be the deciding factor, CC was great at making the Vic country kids feel loved.

Re: Warnock homeward bound

We wouldn't give up a 1st rounder. Pick 26 and a player sounds good.
Sounds good to us but won't get it done. If we could keep 26, giving up 8 for Warnock and 21 would be a huge win. After the top 7, the next 20-odd are rated pretty even in this draft.

1. Oh yeah, your post has lost all credibility already. The MFC will be debt-free by Round 1, 2009.

2. They didnt yes, but we are moving out to Casey Fields. A strong area with high quality facilities. There's been alot of government funding for a big upgrade too.

3. Probably so, but theres no doubt we'll win a premiership in Robbies stage at the club. If he does come.

4. Its obvious we need a ruckman, we're going to trade for him.

5. Aint going to be the deciding factor, but dont worry we will have a few by 2011.

3. Probably so, but theres no doubt we'll win a premiership in Robbies stage at the club. If he does come. Didn't you use that line on Jeff White also?

4. Its obvious we need a ruckman, we're going to trade for him.Correct.

5. Aint going to be the deciding factor, but dont worry we will have a few by 2011.When you are playing on the Gold Coast, having gained all those valuable early picks and uncontracted players.

Good on you if you get him. Personally, I think you will. I also happen to think you will pay more for him than you think you will.

Re: Warnock homeward bound

Being out of debt because of tin rattling and hand outs does not mean you will be financially viable going forward. Coming last for the next two seasons is not going to get the sponsors and new members on board.

If I were a Melbourne supporter I would be concerned that Cameron Schwab will want some new high profile players to generate the excitement. Hopefully, for your sake, Naitanui will be enough to satisfy him and he doesn't pull a Croad on you guys too.

The debts arent being payed out by the AFL.

Supporter donations. In fact the MFC has raised $3m since the beginning of Debt Demolition in August.

You'll also find a good, honest board are doing more financially for the MFC than the AFL.

Its hardly 'tin rattling'.

And your right, it doesn't mean we're going to be finanically viable going forward but its making the right foundation to move forward.

I am very content with the backing of our current board.

The only way an AFL club can survive these days is with sponsors, and plenty of them. Collecting donations from supporters will only get you so far, you need success on the field to attract the money. Schwab understands this. He also understands that he needs to do it NOW, not in 3 years time.

He will not risk you losing Warnock. Melbourne will either trade something decent for him, or you won't get him. Those are the two options.

How many times has the club had to say this!

Cameron Schwab WONT and i repeat !!WONT!! have any control over recruiting!

He has learnt from his massive blunders at freo. What he might do though is him and cuddles might get together and help get Warnock over to the dees.

Who's questioning our lack of sponsorship? I think we're fine in this department.

As I said above. The $3M is a good base foundation.

We're rebuilding to have success on the field. Of course Schwab understands this, and so does every MFC supporter.

Success cant come instantly sunshine.

He wont risk losing Warnock but If Richmond or Carlton beat us to the crunch, what can Schwab do?

Re: Warnock homeward bound

Mark Harvey is not well liked by the playing group, expect more to leave. Everytime I post something on this it gets removed, but as you can now start to see, it is fact. More players want out but as they are in contract or not in demand they are finding it hard.

OK, let's just agree to disagree and save this money argument for a thread in Bay 13. I was merely pointing out to you that your suggestion of Pick 35 being offered would simply not cut it. You will either cough up more than 35, or you won't get Warnock. I guess that's Melbourne's call.

Do you ever think that Schwab probably sees picking up Croad as part of the reason for pulling Fremantle from a financial basketcase to a financialy stable club? He may not be involved with recruiting but he knows Melbourne need some form of excitement to get the sponsors and supporters on board unless he thinks the supporters will pull out their checkbooks every year. Maybe you can patch things up with diamond Joe Gutnick. At least when he was around you hads a profile.

I see the uneducated people have once again been let out of their cages. Who did it? Own up.

That's because all the mods have Freo bias.

As far as I'm concerned, I couldn't give a rats arse if he's liked or not. He's the coach and if he can instill some long-overdue discipline into the playing group then it's fine by me. If that means players leave because they don't want to play by his rules, then they can f*** off.

Warnock Similar to Wood Trade

Just like last Year there is a Young Tall Ruckman up for Trade, Wood Last Year and Warnock this year.

So will Freo get the Same that the Lions got for Wood?

I doubt it because last year was a Weak Draft and So a 1st Round Pick could be moved but I doubt it this year

Re: Warnock homeward bound

I'm happy to back Harvey in on this if its true. Harvey needs the freedom to have things his way to show us what he can do. Under CC the tail truly was wagging the dog.
