Paul Daffey is releasing a book this week on country footy called The Totem Poles of Ouyen United.

It is "an exploration of the many clubs that have folded into one another to form the Ouyen United footy club" as well as the Mid Gippsland league, the Inglewood and Wedderburn region, where I stand in a paddock where the mighty Woosang footy club once played, "the Peninsula competition’s extraordinary Grand Final between Sorrento and Pines" and Brad Hartigan, who has played in an unfeasible number of premiership teams. There is also a list of every country footballer to have played in more than six premiership teams.

Details of the Melbourne book launch:

The Totem Poles of Ouyen United — Melbourne book launch
Venue: Lord Newry Hotel (upstairs)
Address: 543 Brunswick Street, North Fitzroy
Date: Thursday 26 September 2019
Time: 6-8pm
Finger food: supplied
Drinks: supplied (for a while)
Meals: available in the bar after the launch.

The Lord Newry still has an active function room???? Woosang won a lot of flags prior WW2, in Gladstone, Wycheproof and Korong leagues. I actually attended the game celebrating Inglewood's 125th season, where they lost at home to BLS. Ouyen's story is just insane ... and to this day I dunno how accurate my take on it is.
Sounds like it will be a fantastic event!

A quick mockup of Fitzroy (SA) I needed for other purposes today.

Got a new one for you Mobbs.

Central Eyre United. Formed this year from a merger of Wudinna United and Central Eyre.

Have fun 🤣
Sorry Heardy_101 I guess I overlooked this, and only noticed now that I came back to throw another one up. I'll go look. The Google Maps project is telling me a lot more about the geography these recent while!

This was Ashburton-Caulfield as far as I can tell from the data available and the brainpower drummed up to throw at it. Caulfield (and Ashburton)'s footy clubs need punching SO MUCH for being so confusing.
