The lad from Kerry this week becomes just the sixth Irish recruit to play 100 AFL matches

He was signed as a CatB rookie in Oct 2016 and a short 7 months later he was making his debut on the big stage of the MCG. And 86 matches later he became just the third Irish import to win a premiership, with fellow teammate Tuohy #2 on that list

Congrats to Merrick on this fantastic achievement, and here's to many more games in the hoops

Sarcasm haha. The way he wheeled around, putting a gap on his opponent and kicked a 50m pass on his left foot was pretty special. Blicavs like.

Massive respect for all he's achieved. Honestly, O'Connor's statistics are underwhelming. His disposal efficiency is very high but he gets few touches. Bog average for marks, tackles, 1%ers and all that. His medium-utility size makes it hard to definitely assign him a solid position on the field. But for all of that he works damned hard behind the scenes. When you run 50m to man up a loose opponent, encouraging that guy's teammate to kick along the boundary instead of centering it, does that show up on the stat sheet? No. But Chris Scott

Underrated, but clearly valuable to the team when he has played every game this season. I back him to retain his spot even as others become available. Tough competitor and extremely fit.
