Does anyone else get the feeling that these two aren't miles ahead of the rest like they have been over the past few years.

You could even argue Suarez has been better than Messi so far this season, while up until 5 days ago Ronaldo was struggling.

Is their period of combined domination coming to and end, and will we see a ballon d'or winner who isn't one of them at the end of 2016?

They will slow down and eventually be overtaken by younger up and coming guns, but right now they're both still the best 2. Ronaldo is getting on a bit, 30 years old now but although his pace has gone a bit he will still score plenty of goals because he knows where to be and is a natural finisher.

Wish every other barca player declines like messi, might go b2b2b treble if thats the case :$

Would either of them be favourite for Ballon D'or 2016 right now? Messi has been average lately and was awful against Aletico. Ronaldo has been playing well especially in the CL but his team might not win a single trophy. Surely it's time someone like Muller, Lewandowski or even Suarez is given the nod ahead of either Messi or Ronaldo.

Messi has been impressive bar these last 3-4 weeks. Still favourite for 2016 imo...

They don't have to be impressive to win it, just keep starting for Barca/Madrid.

Since 2000 the winner has come from Barca/Madrid 13 times (Ronaldo at United, Zidane at Juventus and Kaka at Milan)

Hell, Bayern did the "Treble" in 2012-13 and Messi/Ronaldo still finished 1-2 like they have for the last 5 seasons.

Messi/Ronaldo/Suarez/Neymar. It won't be anyone else.

It's the most boring rigged award imaginable.

Honestly, who cares when it all comes down to it. Football is a team game and team awards are the only ones that matter

Being crowned the best player in the world is no small matter. Quite often it is the best player on the best team who gets awarded this anyway.
Wasn't the case in 2013 after Bayerns treble

IIRC the Italians in Buffon and Conte didn't bother voting because Buffon was excluded from the preliminary list, it shows how much they give a s**t and I actually applaud their stance.
