I know it's on PSN, but **** me, that game in HD would be magnificent.

We will always have MGS4 - should suffice for now. ;)

Started downloading MGS4's big update released months ago. Going to finally get some Trophies for this bitch.

Just hoping it finishes downloading soon
How is the trophy list? Seem attainable enough? I don't think I ever actually finished MGS4, I think I stopped at some point because another game was out and I just forgot about it. So I definitely have reason to sink some time in when there's not a lot of games out next year and I can go through the old game list.

Game will be hard as hell to Platinum, both in challenge and time consumed. There were a bunch of hidden trophies I looked up (since I'd beaten the game last year I didn't have to worry about spoilers). There are ones which reward taking down all bosses with non lethal force, shocking a soldier with the Mk II, etc. But then there is a Gold Trophy for collecting all iPod tracks, which is insane as one track requires you to get all 40 of the games Badges, which requires multiple play throughs.

I only ended up playing for 20 minutes due to how long it took to update. But I'll give it a crack again soon. I want to make sure I get some decent trophies but won't be going all out for them.

The other big thing is you need to start with a new save file. Old files won't accrue anything towards trophies.

Any idea where I can purchase the collector's edition with the lamp for Metal Gear Rising? Looks like the EU/AU version comes with the figurine.

Still deciding which one is more awesome :p

Guess the lamp is more practical and useful (and I actually need one ATM) but that figurine looks more badass every time I see it and is in the AU version CE so I can get it at my local JB:thumbsu:

New trailer.

Gameplay looks okay, but no idea how that will hold up after 8 or so hours.

Dialogue is terrible, seems like they are dead set on ruining the Raiden character and a lot of what he stood for.

He used to be a soldier to save things, fighting for a purpose, now he is just some nut bag who has lines so terrible they make Dante cringe.

Honestly it looks terrible, but I just can't resist it.

I love Metal Gear dearly, but it's always been the sort of thing where if someone hates it, I aint arguing.

I love the series, have played them all (well, the Play Station gen ones, not any of the off cuts) but this isn't a MGS game. It's just a MGS character they are destroying to cash in.

Was originally going to buy just for the plot if not anything else. But the plot really looks like the worst part of it.

Not sure how everyone feels about him these days, but I actually like the Raiden character, always have. So I actually don't want to see them *******e him on Blu-Ray.

So we've waited all this time for rubbish. Anyone know if there'll be a demo?

Demo will hit LIVE/PSN in the next fortnight I believe. It will be three stages from memory.

This is old news now, but I didn't see it mentioned in this thread yet... (ripped directly from a different forum where I originally posted it a month or so ago.

IS "THE PHANTOM PAIN" ACTUALLY MGS5

Phantom-Pain.jpg

All signs point to "yes". If you were following the VGA's coverage at all you would have remembered this mysterious trailer for a new game entitled "The Phantom Pain". Upon the inevitable dissection by fans it has become quite clear that Hideo Kojima is up to his old tricks and this mystery game is actually a working Metal Gear Solid title. Whether or not it is separate to "Ground Zeros" or not is yet to be known, but it is definitely going to be a massive reveal.

http://au.ign.com/articles/2012/12/08/the-phantom-pain-metal-gear-solid-v

The first new game revealed at this evening’s Spike TV VGA event was a project called The Phantom Pain. While it at first seemed like it could be a new IP from an unknown Swedish developer called Moby Dick Studio, it’s pretty clear at this point that The Phantom Pain is actually a Metal Gear game.

More specifically, it seems like The Phantom Pain could very well be Metal Gear Solid V.

Sleuths around the ‘net have been poring over The Phantom Pain trailer, pulling out interesting tidbits that lend credence to this theory (apart from the fact that the main character in the trailer is a dead ringer for Big Boss, also known as Naked Snake). Before we get to all of the evidence, though, it's worth pointing out that phantom pain is a real term. The amputee seen in the trailer would likely be having phantom pain where he once had a hand.

For starters, the game's logo has some mysterious lines on it and leaves some other strange gaps. As posted by NeoGAF member Sn4ke_911 in this thread, Metal Gear Solid V very clearly fits perfectly among those lines and gaps.

And how about this purportedly new studio behind The Phantom Pain? Moby Dick Studio has a website, but it appears to be a ruse. Folks quickly Tweeted at us that the CEO of the studio is reported to be named Joakim Mogren. Why is that important? Because Joakim is an anagram for Kojima (the last name of Metal Gear’s creator, Hideo Kojima), while Mogren has tucked away in it the word “ogre”, Kojima’s project that’s been confirmed not to be Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes.

A quick WHOIS search of the Moby Dick Studio domain name gives us precious little information, seen below. The website was only created a few weeks ago; the owner of the site and other information are well-obscured.

One thing's for sure: The Phantom Pain project appears to be an Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 game... at least according to the logos at the bottom of the Moby Dick Studio website. (It's important to keep in mind that that, too, could be a ruse of its own. Something about this game says "next gen".)

Another interesting layer to this story comes by way of Kotaku, which cites a Tweet from a man named Alex Rubens, who reports that people at the Konami party in the VIP section have The Phantom Pain/Moby Dick Studio shirts on. Konami, of course, is the Metal Gear series' longtime publisher.

But what about the nitty-gritty of the trailer itself? There are a few interesting clues within the trailer that IGN’s Metal Gear Solid fans have been mulling over, e-mailing and Tweeting about. For starters, the man on fire in the trailer appears to be Volgin from Metal Gear Solid 3. And is that Psycho Mantis floating above the ground near the very end of the trailer? It appears so, though as one IGN editor (who’s a big fan of Metal Gear) pointed out, there are now quite a few Psycho Mantis-like characters in Metal Gear lore. So that being Psycho Mantis isn’t a lock.

Metal Gear Solid fans, let us know in the comments below what your theories are. What did you pull out of the trailer that you think is important or interesting? Do you think those characters are indeed Big Boss, Volgin and Psycho Mantis? Is this indeed Kojima’s Project Ogre, and are Project Ogre and Metal Gear Solid V one and the same?

Not surprisingly, Kojima has seemingly left us with many more questions than answers.

Has to be Big Boss

Looks very much like Volgin from MGS3 (look at the legs)

The biggest give away yet is "Joakim Mogren's" twitter, which actually reeks of Kojima humour.

I think that whole PP trailer is a ****ed up dream sequence of Big Boss', perhaps conjured by Psycho Mantis.
