They're f**king great! It's for the best. I love Igor heaps but the new guy is excellent.
I f**king hated Soulfly and everything Max did after he left. Just terrible.
So for the best they got to do their own thing. Andreas kicks arse too.
Soulfly 3 and prophecy were pretty good. “Mars” is a great song. Totally different to what was going on at the time.

Watched a metallica gig on youtube last night. California is 1994. Man they were good back then. Had to put up with lars introducing it though. Such a tosser
Having seen so many Metallica shows on YouTube, I kinda like the Lars introductions. He’s got a pretty calming tone and is pretty funny. I totally get how Metallica got so big, imagine being an interviewer or a radio exec and dealing with Lars. He’d be very easy to deal with and a joy to talk too.

Yeah I know it's probably the minority these days but I still like Lars heaps. Without him they wouldn't have had the success.
Not even remotely close.
I know they were talented but there was plenty of good thrash bands around.
Just even doing the intros on the video screens is only something Lars could do.
Plus he's the biggest Metal Head ever!

Spot on Spaz. He’s the voice of Metallica when they’re not on stage. Imagine being a businessman and sitting down with a 19 year old Lars and he says “you should invest in my band for A, B and C reasons”. Now replace Lars with Sebastian Bach..... yeah.... that’s one reason Metallica are huge.

Absolutely. And there's far more to Metallica and their success than just the music. Its the name for a start. That was Lars.
The t-shirts and the artwork back in the day.
And yeah dealing with people! He got them going with his contacts he made everywhere from all the tapes he used to swap, magazines he used to track down and bands he followed around on tour when he was a kid.
You look at say Megadeth who were the better band and best albums are better, and even as just a fan trying to engage with Mustaine or even like him and you see the difference he makes.

I’m not sure I would say megadeth where better, purely for the head start Metallica got. Megadeth we’re promoting “killing is my”, while Metallica were promoting “ride the lightning”. I love Megadeth but put those 2 albums next to each other and it’s no contest. “Peace” v “puppets” is an interesting one.

I'm just a big fan of Rust in Peace. probs my favourite ever album.
I think that's the best album either of them put out overall.
And yeah also love Peace Sells. Man that is a hard one vs Puppets.
Some people absolutely love "Killing". Maybe cause of the drums. I dunno.
And I suppose they had better musos.
I like it enough, but yep compared to Lightning it's not even a contest at all.

I think the songs on “killing” are great..... that production though. I’m torn on piece sells and rust, depending on the day either are my fav. The three in a row of poison, lucretia and tornado or the brutal Black Friday. That’s a tough question for me.

Yeah the production is shocking. As a kid though I only had a shitty tape deck and "taped" tapes off already taped albums.
So everything sounded shit. And it's weird I actually like killing the best then!
Until I got a stereo for Xmas.
On You Tube when I'm doing the dishes or cooking tea I usually make a playlist of Holy Wars, then go to Wake up dead and Black Friday, then go back to Take no Prisoners.
Usually by then I'm done lol.

I think I’ve heard Holy wars and wake up a few to many times. I think that’s why I like the “b side” stuff.

Mustaine has a new book about the inside story of Rust in Peace and after reading some of the previews it looks f**king Amazing.
Ellefson is such a top bloke.
I hope they weren't all the best bits like they do sometimes.

Thanks Spaz. I’ve got a copy coming in the mail. You can buy signed copies off Megadeth.com also got Rob Halford book coming..... and Adrian Smith.... and Skin from skunk anansie. (That’ll be an interesting read. Not many African America lesbians singing in metal bands, and boy oh boy does she have a voice)... guess I’ll be reading a lot over Christmas. If you haven’t heard skunk Anansie this is my favorite

Yeah I got mine on Audible last night. It was already on there!
Not metal but I'm a big Mark Lanegan fan. And that book was on there almost instantly too.
I've read excerpts from the Adrian Smith one and I really wanna get it.
I would love to read a Rob Halford book. I thought surely there would already be at least one out but I haven't seen one.
