A brief history of Metalcore and all things br00tal
it was a nice sunny day in a nice sunny middle class suburban town in america where some young kids were have a nice party. Back in those days boys looked like boys and girls looked like girls (with the exception of the faggy new wave boys who looked like girls and the dykie new wave girls who looked like boys), neon colours were in, punk was punk and metal was metal. things however were not as they seemed.
in this nice sunny town on this nice sunny day some nice young boys were having a party. unfortunately some wires were crossed while organizing and two boomboxes and two completely different styles of music were pirated onto the cassettes. extreme Metal and hardcore punk.
this wouldn't usually be a problem, and in fact the very week before in the same sunny town (on a day that wasn't quite so sunny) the situation was resolved by taking the boomboxes into different rooms. but no one thought of this solution today.
as a result of this conflicting music being played at excessive volumes in the same room, fights broke out. being as these were middle class suburban white kids though, no one really new how to fight, instead just flailing their arms around wildly and doing a few cartwheels (no one is exactly remembers why they did cartwheels but we can only assume that it seemed like a good idea at the time). thus hardcore moshing was created.
the kids didn't fully comprehend the enormity of their discovery as the sunny sky turned grey and lighting began to crack all around. in fact so oblivious to the occasion that not one of the boys took the time to stroke a cat while laughing like a maniacal mad scientist.
but they did realize one thing, this new br00tal dancing needed new br00tal music. it needed something loud and fast, bloodthirsty, tribal and aggressive...but also slightly feminine because you need chicks around other wise you'd be a queer who's going to die of AIDS
they tried all sorts of things, african and world beats, blues, country but given the poor musical abilities off all involved it was doomed to fail. eventually a particularly poor metal riff and far off the scream of an adult could be heard as he bludgeoned himself to death, sick of the horrible and seemingly endless musical experiments.
the vocals and music had been figured out. one thing was lacking though, solo's. but given the previously mentioned poor musical abilities of the young lads they had two options. practice hard or try something different. the latter was opted for.
the br00tal boys were two busy being core and working on their image to be bothered with guitar lessons, although they swore they would get around to it eventually. so instead they just repeated a single note where the solo should go as a reminder to put it in later. the breakdown had been born

Agreed, to me you pretty much have metal, death metal and power metal. Pretty much everything should fit in there somewhere.
