Nah. It’s a league for women to play football. It’s driven by women because we love footy too.

I think it is phenomenal business and marketing, and even Snake_Baker will agree with me. let me have this out

i) Half the consumers (we are told), are women. I could be sceptical about this quantum, but I think it would be about right. 100k Richmond members are not primarily male. It stands to reason it is split more or less evenly.
ii) caveat: this does not mean they spend the equivalent disposable income of AFL. However, they soon will be the overwhelming income earners in corporate sphere, they hold the numbers at the sandstone universities doing the professional vocation degrees like law and medicine. This makes business sense to bed down this consumer as integral to your sales strategy.
iii) NRL has an issue with women, this allows AFL to make headway with the female consumer.
iv) association football/soccer, are the only true competitor/substitute for impact/contact sport involvement. I dont think touch football, tennis, basketball, netball, golf, could threaten the market share/critical mass of australian rules. It requires increased participation on the current female fan, to cross to competitor / patricipant / competition.

So they afl burnt a significant, material amount of dough, sunk costs, on the aflW enterprise. I think this will be seen as a wise investment, even conceding Snake_Baker 's postion of the previous VFL women struggling to fill out a local oval in Darebin and Northcote. They needed the zeitgeist groupthink and trend of women's involvement in professional sport. I won't buy they were locked out, or prevented from having their teams. They never had the critical mass because the economic demand did not justify the expense. But we had golf and tennis and sports millionaires like Anna Kournikova. I am a pretty good-looking guy but I could never demand the male-modelling fees of Maria Sharapova and Gisele and Serena. I think I might take Victoria's Secret and Nike to the Human Rights Commission for not giving me the equivalent remittance.

Couldnt be worse than than the AFL decision to expand in the Gold Coast. Woman and sport is a bit like comedy. Why are there so few female comedians? Is it because women dont have a sense of humour? No, its because they would rather watch a male comedian than someone like Catherine Deveny.

I cant see where the commercial return will come from. Soccer on the other hand I think could make an arguable case. The Spanish and Americans have done well with a womens league.

The Australian Football League run both competitions. They decided to use the branding of clubs long supported.

This is what you're upset about? Some clubs having women league teams associated with them?

And, clubs are built by people, not one gender.

The few videos of him i've seen he has at least been mature and respectful, not a "provocateur" like the others. He has even called out some of the trolling behavior of the others. Someone will probably correct me now with a vid of him being hateful, but I haven't seen any of that from him.

His delivery is reasoned, and I wouldn't call him a provocateur. My point was his arguments are straight down the line pupulist right.

He was inserted into the convo talking about the culture wars, and my point is a lieutenant on one of the sides.

I have seen the reason Tim Pool has been labelled right wing was when the streets of Berkeley turned into a running riot
He spoke and reported on both sides
One side tried to steal his property,vandalize his property and assault him
After he reported which side that was,he was labelled right wing even alt right
