I think any reason to hate the Gold Coast even more is a good reason.

Did anyone think the beer was warm?

FFS, we had security called on us by a middle aged, Gold Coast supporting couple because we were cheering too loud. Not being offensive, not drunk, cheering too loud. The old duck didn't even watch the match, she knitted the whole ****ing time and old mate husband didn't clap any of their sparse goals.

Thankfully the security bloke and his supervisor were good blokes, and advised them they were at at footy match and not a chess hall. Classic sledge.

Megatron Stadium can blow me after that, and ****ing the song up.

Must admit agree with most of the sentiment on this thread re playing the wrong song. But how bad is it when a few bars of the Suns wretched tune is played after every goal they kick, thankfully there were not too many of those last night. How American cheer squady is this? I found it most distasteful.:thumbsd:

I thought whAt was much worse and cant see it mentioned at all was the sh1thouse band still Playing as the boys ran on the ground and thru the banner. Hope my memory is wrong but think the song was actually "girls just wanna have fun"

Meterofpoo stadium did stuff up suns sub as well. Think they listed Swallow as subbed off after half time. Pickering was in all sorts.

I am going to marry this stuff up with the song and let it slide...ONLY THIS ONCE.

but by jingo that horn sound everytime they kick a major is just a sensation, almost as brilliant as that time clock that counts down to the opening bounce - after the game has started....

the horn of mediocrity

I wasn't impressed. I like to sing along when we win at final siren and was "WTF" Typical chip on shoulders no nothing about AFL footy SEQ.

The cringe making music when the Suns kicked a goal brought back memories of the SCG in the '80's with some clown over the P.A. system calling out to the Swans fans DURING THE GAME....Similar at AAMI. Corny as Leave it to Beaver.

I personally liked the sound playing after a goal, but I'm a big NBA fan too. Gets the crowd a little more excited, and let's face itthey don't have much at the moment.

I just started singing "Gary is a w***er" during those interludes. Same tune.

Also, and I think they could have nailed this, the one minute countdown and use of Muses 'Uprising' could have been superb had they not mistimed it by 20 seconds.

Best part for me though was sitting step width and three seats from Arch and Fridge. Super getting to shake his hand just after he saw his record defeated by another true little champ.

Also, and not sure of the whys of this, but turned up at GC airport at about 6.30am and saw Scotty McMahon and a couple of older blokes wearing North hoodies, all going over paperwork. Nobody else. Thought it was odd.

Let me get this straight.

You guys think that the Gold Coast Football Club, which wouldn't have existed if North Melbourne had been moved up to the Gold Coast, is having a dig at North by playing this alternative theme song?

I sometimes think North supporters just love to be offended.

Wouldn't expect a Melbourne supporter to understand, but perhaps a simple example might help:

Now, we all know that an overwhelming majority of Melbourne supporters were happy to sell away their club at the drop of a hat and voted in favour of a merger with Hawthorn. This was only defeated by Hawthorn supporters. Next, let's assume they had already worked on an amended theme song (quite plausible, the melbournehawks.com web site was already reserved - true story). How would you feel if you heard the GC crowd running that version after you beat them? You know, "it's a grand old flag ... the team of the red, blue, brown and gold"? No doubt you'd let it pass without comment.

Was it that big a deal?

Rumor has it, they were going to send this bloke into the middle of the ground after our win. Accompanied by his intro "I've got a song for you".

Must have got pissed at the Liquor store instead. There's a reason he was wearing his Locs.

Of course they pinged you for that and ignored the drunk GC supporting ********s behind me who spent three quarters yelling "AARON EDWARDS YOU'RE SHIT" and then moved on to bagging Hansen...who had been subbed off a long time beforehand.
Then again, they probably didn't get a talking to because although it's annoying, it's the footy and who the **** dobs someone in for yelling at the bloody football.

The thing thats shits me about Gold Coast supporters is that last year, 95% of them supported another side.

Who the **** changes team? After grade 3, that sort of shit is unacceptable and speaks volumes about peoples character.

My favourite has to be the passion shown by the start-up club fans who looked resplendent in their new brown-red supporter kit, topped off with a scarf of the real team they supported in January.

I noticed they played the old Kangaroos song while watching on Fox Sports, thought to myself "I wonder if I'm the only one who notices these sorts of little things?". Guess not, eh.

It was no doubt disrespectful, but I'm not so sure about it being the fault of the Gold Coast Football Club, or even Metricon Stadium for that matter. If anything it was either a simple oversight with no malicious intent, in which case an apology should be given by the AFL, or Andy D requested it out of spite for obvious reasons. The latter wouldn't suprise me though.

I do have a question; was it the AFL that made North play home games at the SCG in 1999 and renamed the club to "Kangaroos", or was this done by the club itself? Because I have a feeling if it was the AFL that did that, then the Kangaroos song being played at Metricon Stadium was most likely Andy giving you yet another subtle "f--- you" for the club sticking to it's roots in Melbourne, and putting a road block on his expansion plans back in 2007.
