News Metro Tunnel - Arden Station Naming Comp

All stations should be named after the road they are on. Changing Spencer Street station was idiotic. That said the Government won't go for that so I would hope for Kangaroos Station or if they choose an indigenous link Krakouer Station.

I've read a petition to name 5 new stations after the Kulin nation.

Why the hell wouldn't they just keep Melbourne central and flinders street for CBD north and South? That's going to confuse the s**t out of people
They are completely new stations.

CBD North
The station at the northern end of the CBD will be located under Swanston Street, between La Trobe Street and Franklin Street. It will provide easy access to RMIT, the State Library and the City Baths, and include an underground pedestrian connection to Melbourne Central Station.

CBD South
The station at the southern end of the CBD will be located under Swanston Street, between Flinders Street and Collins Street. It will improve access to some of Melbourne’s most iconic and important tourist destinations including St Paul’s Cathedral, the Arts Centre and Southbank. The station will have entrances at City Square and Federation Square and a connection with Flinders Street Station.

Call it Melbourne central North and Flinders Street North rather than completely new names imo.

The names of Melbourne’s new train stations have been revealed.

CBD South: Town Hall Station

CBD North: State Library

Domain: Anzac

Parkville: Parkville

Arden: North Melbourne (existing North Melbourne will be called ‘West Melbourne‘)

Just a question, having lived out of Melbourne for the past 12 years, I'm a bit confused with these new stations. Is Flinders St station still going to operate with the addition of Town Hall station? It looks as if they are right next door to each other or are these new stations replacing the tram services that run down St Kilda Rd / Swanston St?
