Anyone give the Dockers a chance of freeing up their salary cap by off-loading either of these two?

Metro and the admin deal looks a bit dodgy to me and I kind of doubt the AFL will allow it to happen. Not after they played hard nose on the Francis dealing with the Dockers last year. Think he might be required to see out his contract on the 'official' books as it were.

Toia, well they say they will keep him if they cant arrange a trade but will any other Club be interested?

Very short mid-fielder on middling footy age with not a lot of games to his name from an under-performing team. I reckon that given the horrific nature of the injury that he had too that it is also doubtful that most other Clubs (also struggling with their own salary cap concerns) will take the punt.

Does throw up the speculation (though currently being rejected outright by the Dockers HQ) of the Croad being possible trade bait more likely I'd imagine.

Just musing over this and the Headland issue. If (as I believe) that the above does happen surely the Dockers couldn't afford to sign Headland in the first place(Croad scenario aside)? Leaving only the Coasters to 'make a play' for Des and what would they have to offer?

One certainty is that it suddenly makes one D.Chicks future very uncertain.

West Coast have a huge hurdle to overcome if they want Headland in that they have to convince Brissy to trade him and this isn't going to happen unless West Coast make an offer Brisbane can't refuse. One of West Coast's top line players will have to be sacrificed.

D.Kerr and a draft pick?
Wirrpunda and a couple of picks?

Toia has absolutely no chance what so ever of being picked up by another club.

I don't think he is worth it for another club to pick him up but I wouldn't be so sure that he won't get picked up. I said the same thing about Mark Gale and a couple of others, and they ended up getting picked up by another club.

Zombie...you sure know how to make someone laugh.

Hawthorn will probably pick them both up. Who knows. Anything is possible.

Hawthorn need a ruckman and a midfielder so we will probably pick them both up in the trade for Daniel Chick and Des Headland

Doubt WC would be happy with those trades. Kerr for Headland would be enough and i doubt that even then WC (or Kerr for that matter) would go for that deal. Wirra wouldn't want to head up to Brisbane much more likely to be traded to a Melbourne club who then trades something up to Brisbane.

Brisbane would probably take a reasonable player plus a first round draft pick IMO or two pretty early picks so they could inject some more young players into their ranks.

As for Metro & Toia, yes good luck with getting them off your books Freo, i doubt anyone would look at either.

I don't understand this Metropolis situation. Why doesn't he just retire and agree not to be paid anything next year? If he is qualified to work in the marketing department and the club is happy to help him further his career in this area you'd think he'd be happy to do this. He won't be playing much more senior footy in any case. I know he probably has a contract but all contracts can be re-negotiated. After all, Voss has agreed to alter his to take a pay cut and players from the Kangaroos and Bulldogs look like they'll be doing the same.

Can someone enlighten me on what's different about Metropolis' situation?

Jod Zombie is quite realistic

Headland is way better than Kerr... dont give me this bull$hit about Kerr being a star midfielder cause he isnt. Headland is very close to being a superstar in this league, and if you want him.. you cant offer crap all.

Kerr for Headland is a huge victory for West Coast... but as expected, I doubt Brisbane would be that stupid.
