Anyone give the Dockers a chance of freeing up their salary cap by off-loading either of these two?
Metro and the admin deal looks a bit dodgy to me and I kind of doubt the AFL will allow it to happen. Not after they played hard nose on the Francis dealing with the Dockers last year. Think he might be required to see out his contract on the 'official' books as it were.
Toia, well they say they will keep him if they cant arrange a trade but will any other Club be interested?
Very short mid-fielder on middling footy age with not a lot of games to his name from an under-performing team. I reckon that given the horrific nature of the injury that he had too that it is also doubtful that most other Clubs (also struggling with their own salary cap concerns) will take the punt.
Does throw up the speculation (though currently being rejected outright by the Dockers HQ) of the Croad being possible trade bait more likely I'd imagine.
Just musing over this and the Headland issue. If (as I believe) that the above does happen surely the Dockers couldn't afford to sign Headland in the first place(Croad scenario aside)? Leaving only the Coasters to 'make a play' for Des and what would they have to offer?
One certainty is that it suddenly makes one D.Chicks future very uncertain.
