The only photo I can locate of Steve May at training on Wednesday. But at least it looks like he is running.

Some photo's of the boys training Friday. Will have to pinch a report later. Nothing posted yet.

Friends,

I have a strange, scary feeling - I am actually becoming confident about next year. Normally this time of year I am excited, but not confident.

I actually think this Burgess (spelling?) bloke might help turn us around. I know it's crazy talk, but I just listed to his interview and some of the things he said give me actual hope

Comment on Demonland that Burgess has the boys out running at Fawkner park this morning. Big turn out of players and all looking pretty fit. Carltank are also in the area doing similar.

Same happened to me. 5 minute interview and I’ve chalked in a top four finish. I’d hope he stays quiet from now so I can regain mental stability

I just don't see where the goals are going to come from? Can't have any confidence in our tall targets. TMac might regain form with fitness, but gee he looked ordinary for the majority of last season until he hurt his knee. Same with Weid. Still looks far off the pace. Petty is promising but raw. Our small forwards are pretty much non existent. We have Fritsch who looks like he could be a 40+ goal kicker for us and he is probably the one I have most faith in if left forward. Joel Smith could also provide a target, but again fairly unproven. Petracca is set to spend more time in the middle. If we are going to push for finals, we need more goals from our mids. Langdon whould help. But we need more out of Brayshaw, Jones, Oliver and Harmes. Maybe even a Salem pushing forward. These guys have to hit the scoreboard more often as we don't have a potent forwardline. I have faith in Burgess getting these guys prepared fitness wise.

I listened to it and thought ‘about time someone made these blokes put in the hard yards’ ... as I cracked open my first beer of the morning.

Spot on.

We play a forward press but have no small forwards. I find it bizarre.

TMac must regain form and Weid needs a breakout year.

In all likelihood, if we can score this year it’s going to come from our medium forwards (Petracca, Fritsch, Hannon) and our mids.

We play such a physically taxing game style - no wonder we were so bad without a preseason last year.

yes indeed - a new or modified game plan is a must. But I’m hoping maybeBurgo can talk some sense into cannon82 I mean Goodwin

I actually don’t mind the game plan itself - but I’m a big believer of a plan which suits your list.

It can take 5 years to reshape a list to suit a game plan. With our draft system, you’re better off forming a game plan around the list and tinkering with the list rather than the other way round.

The boys on holidays in America. Gee they let themselves go don't they. ;)

You can tell its photoshopped, I'd imagine they've been supersizing themselves before pre-season starts.

Who is Mr Socks and Sandles?

No idea, I just pinch photo's of the pre season. Ya want commentary, get Foxtel. :)

Was my first question. My second being why.

I can officially anoint myself as a fully fledged old fart now that I frown disapprovingly every time I see an inch of underwear elastic protruding over a waistband.
