can't stand them, probably due to the fact that despite my best efforts i can't seem to go a day without hearing "electric feel" no less than 5 times

I'm not a big fan of "Kids". "Time to Pretend" is fairly good but "Electric Feel" is slowly becoming one of my all-time favourite songs. For me, it's the second best song of the year. "Sex on Fire" by Kings of Leon gets my vote.
was into these guys for about a week, bought tickets to their show because i thought i might get into it more...but then i ended up selling them for 160 each. they're way over-rated, heaps of better bands going around at the moment.

i could have done it earlier this year with the arcade fire, i got my hands on 14 tickets for that.
I dont vehemently dislike these dudes, but i am scratching my head a bit at how insane some people are going over them. They're ok and i would be curious to see how they recreate live what is IMO just a batch of ok songs that have been produced super well to make sound alot better than what they actually are.
Theres a handful of good tunes on it, but i cannot get anywhere close to being able to sit through this album from start to finish. I find it gets annoying very quickly.

I gotta agree with some of the comments here when the cd first came out I wasnt much of a fan but I guess the excessive radio play made it grow on me a bit. Now I am a big fan of some the later tracks on the album (of moons, birds and monsters, the handshake and future reflections). Went to the Festval Hall gig and the biggest dissappointment was the venue sound system (as usual) rather than the band. Time to Pretend was easily the highlight and Kids as the encore.
One of the guys from the radio station went to their Sydney during the week and was bitterly disappointed. They played for 50mins which in itself is really pathetic but they had no onstage personality or communication with the audience.
Sounds like they will always be a studio band if that's the case.

Pure ignorance if thats the case. May I ask what radio station? They played every song from Oracular Spectacular plus Metanoia at both the Syd and Melb gigs plus a cover at the Syd show and there was 2 support acts. Anyone with half a brain would have known the album which nobody has heard from 3 years ago wouldnt have been played. I can only comment on the Melb show as far as stage personality goes but they definitely interacted with the audience and were thankful for the support. Anyone who is hasnt seen them live would not realise how good the guitarist is.

can't believe how popular they are. Heaps of guys just like whatever the hot chicks are into and going to festivals
i was quite bored throughout their set actually, only the drummer and guitarist (not singer) had any real stage presence and they were nowhere near a match for the datsuns or combo la revelacion (my favourite for the festival)
