Posts insinuating rape and sexual assault were left on this ******* site for 2 years.

Do you feel comfortable with that?
Of course I don't.

If people used the report button as it is intended to be used, that wouldn't happen though. You seem to have this expectation that moderators will read every single post in every single thread- it doesn't work like that.

Anyway, the offending posts have been dealt with and deleted. People have been warned in no uncertain terms not to do it again.

If you want to discuss your gripes about this more, do so via PM as it is taking this thread off topic. That goes for everyone.

He's not. He's a good poster asking for better posting. That's fair.
It looks like you are trying to take a responsible line. I would argue that a 'good' poster would not be here to throw ridiculous accusations and various abuse and insults at other posters. I do not see how their request for better posting can seem legitimate when their own posting in this thread is near the gutter.

I really don't like Mia's articles but so much henious posting in this thread -

Smirkin Dirk is pretty spot on even if you guys can't/don't want to see it -

She talks some crap, and is hypocritical for someone who worked at the top of various trash magazines, but she's small fry for The Morning Show and other irrelevant filler.

Andrew Bolt, Piers Akerman, Miranda Devine and other legitimate prick commentators that politicians actually half pay attention to are far more concerning.

If we had a thread about Andrew Bolt or Piers Akerman then Fedora Boy couldn't call us all rapists, and that wouldn't be any fun

I bet no one posts about wanting to f*ck some sense into Bolt though

Gough might; otherwise I agree it would be fairly unlikely that heterosexual men would express a desire to have sex with a rather unattractive man

You've missed the point completely -

Also, Gough wouldn't be so crass

I know what they are - I don't know why kfc keep referring to it though

I didn't miss the point, I just don't agree with it and pointed out why your example is stupid.

Stereotype of a mangina/white knight. I lol'd at Botsmaster's post mentioning the Fedora and thought it fitted quite well

No they wouldn't but I'm pretty sure I've seen people express a desire to belt some sense into him.

Neither comment is right but untoward comments are made about a lot of public figures on this site and the anonymity factor emboldens people to go further than they would without that cloak. I also doubt very much that any of the comments are a genuine statement of intent either so they don't constitute a threat as such - they're an off colour comment, no more no less and aren't necessarily a true refelction of that persons true feelings of the seriousness of actual rape or sexual violence

Smirkin Dirk comes across as one of those guys at uni. doing Arts, attending protest marches with his girlfriend against the evils of men (in general), secretly loathing himself. He / you seem to have missed that 'I'd smash that', 'tap that', etc. is not a literal intent that you want to inflict violence (rape). I'm sure with the family friendly policies on BF these days that at some point we'll have to post along the lines of 'Although I respect her as an individual and admire her mind, I'd like to have a joining of our genitalia for mutual pleasure, in a fashion that carries no overtones of patriarchal domination of the female gender.' Until that time people will, amazingly, use the vernacular of the times they live in.

Lol

Well played

Enlighten me why when referring to a woman and her job - that her looks and possibilities of sex are even brought up.
Serious question.

Hackneyed, bogan stereotypes aside, you should just admit to being comfortable with off-handed comments that connect sex and violence against women. How come nobody has threatened to stick their **** down my throat to shut me up?

Come up with any wan ky justification you want, 'jokes' about sexual assaulting women dont bother you. Be a man and own that, rather than run from it.

Manhood in this culture seems to be hide in packs making jokes about assaulting women, then shitting yourself when called out. Weak as piss.

Why not? When female football fans go along to matches together would you consider it sexist and degrading if they say they find any of them hot and would like to date/sleep with? The difference is most guys would laugh off even the thought of feeling like that was female oppression of the male gender. Do they not have the right to perform their job in a public place without objectification? As long as the human species has two genders then one will find the other attractive (or their own if so inclined). You've never found a work colleague, client, receptionist at any company visited and thought 'I find them attractive'? Kudos to you for having veins of ice and not feeling emotions most people do if so, but for most of us the ability to admire those we find attractive, and yes comment on it to those we think may be interested / similarly inclined, is one of the things that connects us fellow functioning adults.

Because for the umpteemth time no one is actually wanting to be violent against Mia Freedman! You understand colloquialisms and the difference between figurative and literal so poorly that I'm guessing your favourite song is Ironic by Alanis Morissette.

You seem unable to understand this figurative language is pointing to a deeper issue that males in this country are too boyish to engage with.

Not speaking for anyone else, but I must admit when I meet or see a particular woman for the first time my first thought is almost always how good looking they are (or aren't) and by extension would I want to **** them if on the very slight chance she would let me anywhere near her.

Then i move on and deal with her like I would anyone else regardless of my own mental answer or keep watching if its on TV
