The 2nd leg in the US sunshine states. Not much to add. No Nadal still. Fed will be fav in the mens. It will be interesting to see how Novak goes. mens draw isnt out yet.

The WTA is full of contenders but in a good way. More and more players are stepping up. No one has won 2 Premier Mandatories or grand slams since 2017. That is 10 different winners of the biggest tournaments since 2017.

(grand slams)
AO: S.Williams, Woz
FO: Ostapenko
WO: Mug
USO: Stephens

(PMan)
IW: Vesnina, Osaka
Miami: Konta
Madrid: Halep
China: Garcia (Aga in 2016, so 11 in a row in reality)

So, who will win here? Kvitova's and Kerber's names missing on the list. Just saying. It is normally rare to win both IW and Miami but Fed, Novak and Azarenka have done it in the past 2 years.

draw is below

Notable First Round Matches:
Alize Cornet vs. Bethanie Mattek-Sands (welcome back)
CiCi Bellis vs. Victoria Azarenka, (winner plays Keys)
Timea Bacsinszky vs. Ekaterina Makarova,
Camila Giorgi vs. Donna Vekic,
Aleksandra Krunic vs. Maria Sakkari,
Monica Puig vs. Sam Stosur (winner plays Woz)

And of course, Serena Willaims v Naomi Osaka. The winner takes on Svitolina. The winner of that could play Dasha Gav.

For Barty, she got a soft draw. Will play a WC in the 2nd round before a potential match v Kiki Ml. Then she gets stuck with the Svitolina/Osaka/Williams death grip.

Is Serena Williams finished?

Lost in straight sets to Osaka this morning
Just catching up with results and saw that  Anyone see the match? Still may be a bit underdone, I wouldn't write her off yet!

Good results for Millman and Ebden :thumbsu:

Stosur playing now, 3 all first set

I think Serena is done. A year off at her age is tough to come back from. Plus I thought the field was closing before she had her baby(though she did win the AO, I thought her losses to Pliskova, Mug and Kerber were a sign.

Millman and Ebden both beaten. Didn't see the Ebden match but Millman had sooo many set points in the first set but just couldn't capitalise as Nishikori was making a lot of unforced errors. Took the second set but Nishikori too good in the third.

Straight sets wins for Ash and Dash.

Kokkinakis getting time violation warning for 2nd time at 3-2 deuce. Games on serve in 3rd set. Hes regularly taken longer than the time allowed so why does the umpire pick such a crucial time in the match to give him the warning. At least he held serve and it's 3-3
