Super impressed by his debut! Sounds like his performances at peel earned him the call up and he certainly showed what potential he has. Imagine how hard he's going to tackle when he's no longer a skinny kid

he weighs 101 kg and has a background in rugby union, playing in a development squad for the Melbourne rebels.

Skinny kid is not an appropriate description.

How much weight is in the core? When he can plant his feet and be unable to be shifted then he is peak weight.
If he was involved in elite sport as a junior it's probably pretty reasonable. Rugby also has a bit more of a focus on strength rather than running ability than AFL too. He's at least a few years away from peak AFL condition, but, he definitely appears to be a man child. A bit like Johnno Brown was. Time will tell of course if his football ability is in the same park though.

Probably not a lot.

But rugby has pretty hefty demands on core strength. For a second rower probably more than footy. Its probably just a matter of getting the cardio and strength-endurance up to scratch.

A lot to work with.

He still has a lot of work to do on his body though. His skin folds look a little high and he will definitely put on a bit more muscle and strength. Exciting prospect though.

Intent and endeavour is very hard to teach and he has that mongrel :thumbsu:

He looks likely, but it's a bit much to expect to dominate in a crowded forward line - hopefully he will get some more opportunities, he doesn't look a complete natural, so it might take a while.

Playing key forward is one of the hardest positions on the ground.

Give him another year. Once he's crashing packs with force he'll make defenders think twice about crowding his space!

Was in an unusual position compared to other draftees... came in having to drop weight as his body was set up for rugby. Needed to drop weight to help him handle the running loads.

Nice problem to have. Not a hard gainer, that's for sure. Don't think him stacking on too much weight too quickly will be helpful as it'll affect his tank. But should be able to put on the weight that he wants.

Wrecking Ball* took out 2 melbourne players plus Fyfe in 1 contest -.-
Sounds a bit too Mylie Cyrus like - I think I'll stick with Magilla.

Bit like Pav. Probably needs to maintain his current weight and just look at reducing body fat.

Agree. He needs to transfer a little to his upper body and have a solid core and gradually I would see his playing weight at about 105 -108 kg but needs to be balanced with aerobic. Basically he should end up like Tippet is now but it will take another 2 years at least. Our trick is to develop him so that he can play a role while doing this i.e. not killing his running game.

His defensive pressure (or lack of) is way overstated. From what I saw much of that was just being a little slow to react to the opposition. He then chased pretty well but had given up a bit too much of a start. That will come with experience.
