His positioning has really improved with game time. Including the goal today there were at least 3 or 4 contested situations from the long ball into our forward line where he got first hands to it but just couldn't hold on. If he starts clunking them we'll look so much more dangerous.

The broken collarbone was such shitty timing, would've been great if he'd been able to play 12-15 games this year. On the plus side, he's got a good bit of momentum to take into the preseason and 2017.

So much, like Tabs, to look forward too. They got game time and steadily got the feel of AFL. Can't wait to see how Apeness goes with a full pre season and work on what he has done this season. Same for Tabs, really believe they can gel together and be the future up forward.

He is like a giant Ballantyne. Just loves the contest! A few free kicks going against him too.
You get the feeling if he has a day out he could kick a bag.

He hits defenders like a bowling ball to pins. His first inclination is to clear a path for other small forwards. He'll give away quite a few frees, but that's exactly what you want. We've missed the intimidation factor. Can't wait til he gets a fair run at it, injury free. Full preseason etc etc.

His improvement with fitness could be immense. Just think he has an enormous amount of upside, more than Tabs IMO.

He has a future here. Yeah he has played 5 games and kicked 3 goals in 2016. But its how he kicked all three goals. All 3 were set shots.

I loved that set shot he scored vs the dogs. Its a slow development but I think he might turn into a drew petrie type.

He will slowly improve but I will be curious when he hits his prime years at 25-30 years old.

Really interesting match up today on Boyd. Both came from the same draft, Boyd obviously being the No. 1 pick.
Apeness got the goal which Boyd didn't and applied more tackles. On the Supercoach points, our man came out on top. So from that perspective Apeness did really well. It sort of gives some clarity to his development when you have a contemporary to compare him with.

5 tackles in the forward line and 15 pressure acts. That's what is expected from a small forward, not someone who is 200cm tall and weighs 100kg.
Plus a whole heap of bruises on those who dared to stand in his way. Bring on the Ape in 2017!

Anyone else see Mayne go ballistic at him for (presumably) not providing a target for him when he had the ball at hf and Ape very quickly defend himself just seconds before laying a crushing tackle and getting a HTB free.
It was bizarre how hard Mayne went at him and also to do it when Ape was on the verge of being involved in the play.

For a man who is really shy and introverted he plays with so much intensity and isn't afraid to hurt people. Bang. Cant wait until he (legally) knocks out someone one day (hopefully it's someone we despise like Jack Darling or something). Loved his mark and goal from 50. Good to see some confidence in goal kicking coming from the likes of him and Yarran.

Yeah he pretty much carried Vic metro the draft year as Boyd went down so he went from primary ruck into attack. Was highly rated from that year as result.

More ruck work too I reckon, gives is a flexible option

If Cam is playing for Freo and our number 1 forward then both Tabs n Ape will be working overtime to get that other key forward possie.

He looks very hard to push off the ball. If he can add a bit more core strength and build his fitness he could really start to show his worth.

If only someone had a crack at Mayne for being a potato and refusing to move the ball on quickly in an attacking fashion, twice in five minutes

I see Cam as playing Chris Mayne's role

Mayne tells people off all the time.
