He has still got better numbers than a stop gap player. Look at his tackle numbers. Really though the reason you would consider him is leadership
 
He'd slot into our top 10 players no worries.

I'd only give up a player for him.

Maybe something like

Vickery + our third for Barlow + their second pick

In addition I would only do the trade if we land a big fish or two good players at the least.

Prestia, Barlow and Hurley would be nice.

Hello guys saw the post and thought I'd give you my thoughts. There is a 22 year old playing in your vfl team Jacob Ballard who I watched last season live a lot, can't believe we let go, much better option at this stage of there careers than Micky B. Great inside mid with much better skills than he been credited for and real good size.
 
I love Barlow and he's probably a good fit for us... I don't think the club is going to go into heavy rebuild mode regardless of what is best for long term success. It would mean trading one of our top 5 players which we just wouldn't do, the backlash from the average supporter would hit the pocket too hard.
Pretty clear the club is more interested in building and maintaining a solid revenue stream from memberships and supporters.
I don't think we'd get him in an open market type situation.

It's still a no from me if he was 24 or 25 then yes but to old for us. He has no real premiership experience, he can't be a leader in our side because we have more experienced players and yes he can tackle but one player tackling won't really help.

Wouldn't picking up Barlow continue the issues with our existing recruiting strategy?
Haven't we learnt yet that these are not solutions!!

I get what your saying, if we land Hurley we should chase Barlow as well, because we would have a premiership backline. I just think we need an experienced big bodied allround mifielder that tackles, runs both ways and is capable of more than 30 and a goal on his day but even moreso we need leadership by example. If Barlow is captain material and I dont know enough about him to know whether he is but if he is we should get him regardless of who else we land.

Realistically we need to bring a player that can legitimately be co-captain with Cotchin. Barlow may make Cotchin better on and off the field.

Why would they trade for a RFA and lose a second round pick when they need as many early picks as possible to fix holes in their list? If they wanted Ty and Barlow was surplus then they could simply trade him elsewhere for a second rounder or whatever and then throw the coin st Ty. That way they get Ty and trade Barlow for a second rounder. Barlow has some currency that top teams could use more than us.
 
If we were a premiership threat I would be all for getting Barlow but since we are sitting 14th on the ladder and almost no hope of making the finals I wouldn't be going after Barlow when he is 29 years old. There are better younger players that would suit our needs that we should be targeting instead.
 
lets get barlow AND pav as both were under our noses as kids, missed pav in 2 drafts and barlow was a young gun from tommy hafeys old stomping ground shep
. at least we could say better late than never... o_O
