That dismissal was in a very similar vein to Haddin's in the 47 collapse against South Africa. You could see what they were each trying to do, but it is quite clear that both of them were massive errors of judgement. I've been a Clarke fan for a long time, but he is certainly struggling and I really hope they don't give him as much grace as they gave Haddin.

it's over. he's not the same man he was. phyiscally and mentally he's finished. and that dismissal was just the culmination of a man who knows it's over.

he cannot continue, there's no leadership anymore. he cannot captain the team. it's a terrible end to a great career but we cannot make excuses after that anymore.

It certainly looks that way.

Clarke is easily the most over rated player I have seen play for Australia. Firstly he averages 30 batting in the top 4 (where batting is toughest) which is ordinary. Secondly you go through the times when he has batted inside the first 20 overs when batting is difficult and he is almost always the next man out having failed to make a score. he has succeeded a few times eg the 151 in Capetown but watching that innings he played and missed at least 7-8 times at balls he should have left and road his luck. I don't doubt his talent but the soft dismissals playing at balls he does not need to play shows a complete lack of discipline. Thirdly next to Trott I cant recall another players who craps himself at fast bowling as much as him. The frustrating thing is I think he is super talented as when he gets in you cant get him out. He has played many great innings but it is the constant soft failures when we need him to stand up I find unacceptable. He has failed 14 times in the last 16 innings he has batted inside the first 20 overs. The two successes being a memorable 100 coming in at 2-88 on a Adeaide road and 47 coming in at 2-16 against the windies pop gun attack. Time for him to go. He is the best player of waste of talent generation. Watson(enough said), Marsh (averages a duck more than 25% of the time: despite the obvious talent), Cosgrove (unfortunately prefers eating) Tait (soft as a marshmellow) Johnson (finally came good after being a mix between match winner and basket case) Krezja (not right mentally) Ferguson (should have been better) White (never really improved from a good start to his career at early age)

I don't get the impression he's tight with Boof either - the comments about the batting order and the like don't smack of two guys working together, on the same page.

not entirely convinced our selectors have enough balls to end his career

we know that he is unhappy/angry with fact he is not a selector. clear lines of division

Well he didn't get selected next series and has had a poor First-class run. But yes, he didn't fail per say.

SMarsh held his spot (somehow) and Voges overtook him because they wanted experience for the Ashes (worked brilliantly). I'd be surprised if Burns isn't selected for the Gabba test.

Fair bit of revisionism going on here.

Who took the decision not to bowl Johnson 2 overs before lunch?

Serious question. Because that is probably what has me most angry.

That had to be thought about.
The plan seems to be not to give Johnson the new ball and the plan seems to be utterly inflexible.

**** me, it can't be that difficult. Pitch is green but sun is out. It will dry out over lunch.

"Here, Mitch, give me 3 heads before lunch!"
It's like Clarke has a little notebook "What to do as captain" and he follows it religiously.

Who apart from Warney is going to kick up a stink when Clarke is mysteriously missing from the team sheet come the Gabba?

stefanovic, alan jones, foxsports. hate how all of his fans say a big score is just around the corner.

Yeah guys, if you drop him you need to replace his with someone who will score runs. Our latest recruits Burns, Doolan, Bailey and Voges have all failed. We have no one.

a fair argument. however, if applied to clarke then apply to every batsman in the team. extend it, if no one is making runs at SS level the team stays the same? could go on for YEARS

mind baffles as to why this was the case. unless mj doesnt want to open the bowling of course. otherwise clarkes just bowling his two mates
