Wouldn't be surprised if this is the result of a few chats with Ponting and Siddle in front of some Roos games.
let's hope so

Come to think of it, I have a great amount of respect for Damien Martyn. He knew, just knew that it was his time. Mid-series.
That kind of selflessness is completely missing from the team.

I agree, BUT, the most selfish thing Clarke could do right now is step down.
You can't let those pommy arseholes think they took the scalp of our Captain.
If he steps down, know that he's been sacked.
The Poms know Clarke isn't a scalp. Look at the difference in celebrations between his scalp and Smith's or Warner's.
There's no point in pretending something is different to what it is. Clarke should never have returned. He should have gone after the World Cup (probably before). Given another batsman an opportunity to establish himself in the West Indies.

Bangladesh, New Zealand and the Windies seems as good a time as any, though.silly comment.
We blooded Voges in the WI. We couldn't tour England with a new 4,5 and 6.
Surely Burns will be called back into the squad? He doesn't have a great average in FC and certainly isn't banging any doors down. But the cupboard is so bare at the moment, it's like 4 years ago all over again when we were throwing baggy greens out the window.Bangladesh, New Zealand and the Windies seems as good a time as any, though.
Yep, Warner, Bancroft, Burns, Smith, S.Marsh, M.Marsh...S.Marsh and Burns to be make the most of their opportunity or be cut loose.Surely Burns will be called back into the squad? Jeeze blokes like you give me the shits. Either:IMO possibly one of the biggest to ever where the Baggy Green - I've been consistent on it for a long time.
From the outside looking in boof and marsh seems like arrogant types as well, our whole setup is full of them so who cares if clarke is an up himself dickhead?
The issue with clarke is his back is done and he looks as embarrassing as morkel trying to bat like matt hayden, actually thats unfair morkel does get one out of the middle once in a while.
To be honest, as much as I dislike Watson as a cricketer, mostly because of inconsistent form and an incredible disjoint between ability and results, it would be epic to see Clarke dropped for him.Any chance of him getting dropped for Watto for the last test.
I can't see the logic behind it but I'd pay to be a fly on the wall listening to that conversation

But not much could out do Marsh this test. Oh boy....
It is ridiculous that Allan Border has come out and said Clarke has earned the right to retire in his own time. That is flawed thinking just because he has played 100 tests. FFS.
Ex-cricketers are so up themselves, it's as if it's the players who are honouring Aus by playing international cricket for the team. Look at the garbage about Haddin.
I guess if Clarke wants to keep playing till his average is 45 then that would be alright? I thought better of AB.
