I have a feeling this is going to be a "Malibu Stacy with a new hat" kinda trade. I have a feeling we'll end up accepting some sort of VFL-depth (that's depth to the VFL side) player or a nothing pick just so we feel we've "won" this one.
Or it could be media BS.Oh Essendon, you never fail to surprise. Still getting your cronies at Rupert Corporation to stick their noses into it and start the negative campaigning for what should be a very simple trade. Just because we gave up 25 for Melksham in a shallow draft doesn't mean every trade henceforth must be judged on the same criteria; there are multiple variables from draft to draft that affect the value of a second round pick.
Pick 27 in this year's deep draft could easily be a 10 year midfielder; a perfectly fair exchange for a 27 year old player who's missed an entire year of his prime directly due to the abhorrent actions of your own club's former administration.
I wouldn't start using the media to kick up a fuss over a Paul Connors mananged player seeking a fresh start, especially after everything you've put him through over the last 4 years.

He's clearly nominated Melbourne and both parties are aware of this, it just hasn't been made "official" (however players do that now). Josh Mahoney was already discussing the trade on 3AW yesterday.Or it could be media BS.
Find it strange Essendon are rejecting fictional offers when he still hasn't nominated anyone yet.
Once he chooses a club it will become clearer
Feel free to treat yourself to a capital letter.why would we want hibberd? hes terrible, hes basically harry lumumba with spinal bithia
It wont come quick but a deal will be done
Wow. Making light of a horrible disease. Good onewhy would we want hibberd? hes terrible, hes basically harry lumumba with spinal bithia
The guy they picked over "The Bont"?Nah would prefer lemon billingz
Honestly I don't think he is worth a 1st round pick, but Essendon supporters look at Hibberd as a much better player than Melksham ( which he is ) With melksham being traded for pick 25 to Melbourne, I can see why we want a pick inside that number. But it wont be happening. We got an absolute steal with Melkshams deal and circumstances are a lot different this season.
Either a swap of picks / player will be the best course, but Hibberd will be at the demons next season and we will have Tippa playing his role with another pre season under his belt, all will be good.
I would certainly fancy a Hibberd for Watts type of deal![]()

I wonder if a team like the Hawks would cop the same treatment that Essendon cops when they ask for a fair trade.
You can bet the Hawks will be asking a first round pick for Hill.
It's a bit easier when you have morons lining up to give you first round picks for the likes of... "Jed Anderson"!? Who is that?
i wanted Watts last year.Funny how things change in two years - Bombers would've been livid at that suggestion.
Yeah poorly managed.Gee Melb falling back to old habits in butchering trades, first Mrs Melksham then Old mother Hibbard, major spuds
