We need a "Clamp Watch" for this young fella. Kept Gartlett quiet today. 1 goal from 11 possessions with little impact on the game.

Meanwhile Hibberd once again took a double-digit total of marks, many of them from opposition and two of them contested, and set up play nicely from defense.

He's our most improved player so far.

WHO'S NEXT?

Really an unsung hero, thought he was easily deserving of top 3 if not for some outstanding games by Stanton, Watson and Crameri too, has really impressed in his start to the season. :thumbsu:

Pig is becoming one of my favorite players fast.

Very confident that he'll make the right decision with the ball in hand. Loving all the marks from opposition kicks. Very important to us moving forward.

We need a "Clam [strike]p[/strike] Watch" for this young fella.

EFA.

CLAM WATCH 2012: COMING TO A SMALL FORWARD NEAR YOU.

He reads it well enough, and defends & rebounds pretty well too, but his real srtength IMHO is his strength - he's just another brute of a kid. Pace to go with the Garletts of the world and the strength & courage to drop back in front of the big fellas, and - mores the point - make a difference to the contest.
The Crameri of the backline.

He's our most improved player so far.
Yep, definitely.

Hibberd has been sensational virtually every time he has run out for the Dons. Not flashy, but an excellent mark, penetrating kick and knows when to come off his man to be third up in another contest.

Along with Hardingham and Dempsey, in Hibberd we have the core of the defence of the future. Now if only we had a CHB with poise. Come on down, Jake Carlisle!

PS: Can someone please tell Matthew LLoyd that the name is NOT HibbArd!!

His game on SJ last season was as good as you'll see from a small defender.

Absolutely.

I remember him doing a bit of Aker-style tackle shrugging in that game and wondering "Who the **** is this badass?!"

Is probably our second best defender after Fletcher at this particular moment. What a great pickup he's been for us. Last year I was so disappointed when he got himself that team suspension because we really could have used him. But good on him for taking his punishment and then moving on and playing some great footy for the club this year. Hopefully he will be resigned soon.

Does not put a foot wrong on the field. He's just a smart, natural defender.

Hibberd is great at chopping of opposition attacks, going third man at a contest and is a solid enough kick to provide drive off half back.

I agree - i think his suspension last year hurt the club (in terms of performance) way more than just him personally.

I highly rate him

Maybe its the socks being pulled up but he looks stronger then last year another who looks to have prospered under the weapons training sessions.

I'd say his strength is to read the play and his ability to outmark his opponent. Him and Hardingham have added a dimension to our backline, they play like Grenvold.

If we can find a Mark johnson type (Hal Hunter?) Id say our backline would be complete.

Credit must be given to Shannon Grant for identifying him.
