Legend Michael Holding, 67, confirms his retirement from broadcasting

Holding, one of the most respected voices in cricket, is to retire after a broadcasting career just as distinguished as a playing one that saw him become one of the greatest of all fast bowlers.

Holding quietly slipped away into retirement after the abandoned final Test in Manchester, confirming to Sportsmail on Wednesday night that while he has not announced his decision, his time is indeed up. He will leave a huge gap.

Used words economically, knew when to speak and what to say, erudite, not afraid to voice an opinion, but never controversial for the sake of a headline and I could listen to his voice recite a grocery list.

Yep, I was a fan, will be sorely missed from the commentary box.

Michael Holding doesn't like twenty20 or the IPL for that matter. What would have been his last test was called off partly or completely because of the IPL. An unfortunate coincidence.

tbh Holding was beginning to lose the plot a bit with some his comments so probably for the best he is stepping down.

Still an absolute legend of the game and the commentary box and will be missed.
