I recall a "Michael lovefest thread" on the Essendon board after about round 2 and was shot down when i posted a comment along the lines of "Atleast wait till the guy plays a half decent game before posting such threads". I really don't see what you people see in him. He is ordinary, slow, leaks goals and gets embarrassed by his opponents week in week out. Today was absolutely embarrassing for him and the club. Why did it take Knights so long to bench him? I know having him in the team is better for our structure but this has nothing to do with how he is playing personally. On form the guy should not be in the team and i stated this weeks ago.

You idiot.

If you're going to troll others, then at least tell the truth and/or get a clue.

You were shot down that day because you showed an utterly breathtaking lack of knowledge about footy.

And you're only confirming it by creating this thread.

Care to comment on the actual OP?

Or you just prefer to say i know nothing about footy without actually giving any reason why.

Yes Michael is good for the structure of our team but he has had an ordinary year at best and is struggling big time.

I would love to see a stat on how many goals the guy has conceded this season.

It must be a competition high.

Week in week out his lack of speed is shown out.

Of course you would! :mad::)

I actually think you all are being a bit harsh he has a crack big Mal he is good in the air and on the ground just not against quick players. i would be dropping a few blokes before him i.e
monfires not up to afl standard despite showing promise early in career
slatts just not good enough
dyson to skinny gets pushedx aside
winders ditto
Nash cant tackle turns it over far to often
Johns struggling but he has a crack

One of only a few who tried his guts out all day. With the way the ball was getting kicked in to the Pie forwards, nobody could have stopped that onslaught. I'm afraid today, the blame has to go on our midfield/ruckmen.

It's the same excuse for him every week.

How come Ryder doesn't get dominated every week?

He has the same rough deal from our MF also.

Excuse me? Take a look at todays stats and I think you'll find that his direct opponents had thrice as many disposals as he did today. This is a common misconception among many Essendon supporters that Channel 10 highlighted today. As a key backman, he leaks disposals like a sieve.

Excuse me but where did i say that Ryder was not well beaten today?

He had a poor game by his standards.

mal michael played alright today. probaby one of our better players.

no doubt watson will get named in the best because he had a lot of terrible disposals looking to handball and turn it over when ever possible.

last week was a joke watson was named in the best - guessing they'll just look at the stats and name him again...

Watson gets named in the best because he is the only one who is prepared to put his head down and go and get the ball. He is our sole MF player at the moment. He needs a couple more MF players who are prepared to put in the sort of effort that he dispalys. Yes, he may have a couple of bad disposals per game but he has been more effective with his disposal than half the team. Watson is just about the only player who can hold his head up after todays game.

No i didn't! I said Ryder does not get dominated every week. Michael on the other hand has lowered his colours in every game this year. Please do not take what i said out of context. I will say it one more time - Ryder was beaten today and it was clearly not one of his better games of the year however he has still managed to beat his opponent on quite a few occasion this season. Blaming the MF is the easy way out. Michael is struggling big time.

30 disposals at 80% effectiveness. 12 clearances out of 30. 4 clangers. 5 inside 50s.

I'd say he'll squeeze into our best...

Hoenstly, who gives a rats arse about how many disposals he gets?

His job is to stop his direct opponent kicking goals, is it not?

I would prefer he had zero kicks and held his opponent at the same time.

He is leaking far too many goals this season.

He can count himself lucky that he didn't have 6 kicked on him today (saved by some poor kicking).

FFS. I DID comment on the OP. The entire and whole bloody context of it.

The fact that you even created this thread (let alone during the game) suggests you've just been begging for the chance to race on here as soon as Mal played an average game to say 'I told you so'. So I replied in kind.

Or you just prefer to say i know nothing about footy without actually giving any reason why.

I clearly gave the reason for that comment. I suggest you go back to the original thread if you can't figure it out:

Ironic you should take this approach, given how you got yourself in way over your head on the original thread.

Week in week out his lack of speed is shown out.

No-one is pretending he's a quick player. Clearly he should be playing on the bigger, bulkier forwards. Not on the likes of Lockyer, Medhurst and co. It's not all that far away from the equivalent of asking David Hille to tag opposition midfielders. Mal can hardly be bagged for struggling to keep pace with blokes who are half his size.

He has been a very classy defender for a long period of time and will, if used sensibly, continue to be.

Jeezus SirJimi05 .. you really struggle, don't you?

I would have thought his job was to get the thing out of the middle and win clearances....

Like Fevola?

Yes he was a classy defender and one of the best going arounf for a long time but i am not talking about what he did for Brisbane 4 years ago.

He is too slow now and is a liability for the team if we can't creat a sufficient matchup for him.

How do you suppose he can be used sensibly?

Treadrea will be the perfect matchup for him going by your reckoning, will he not?

I can't wait to see that dual. :(

that channel 10 commentary was utter shit, a whopping 3 more disposals!!!! that's not even bad for a tagger and his job is to stop goals not possessions which he has been doing. (except today)
