Michael Jackson - Dead

Heres a pretty good youtube of MJ's creative process...he was taken to court for plagiarising some song and had to go over how he writes tunes. He just hums and beatboxes them out, but I'd say heaps of songwriters do that.

I love the way he comes up with every layer of his songs like that, just naturally. Such genius.

didnt really quite realise how in depth he went with his structure of music, quite amazing.

Pretty trashy doco on the supposed "real" story about Jackson on at the moment. Switched off after 5 minutes, load of unsubstantiated BS with empty accusations all over the place.

:thumbsd:

A minor 'star' at Motown in the 60s, who benefited from singing in front of the best house orchestra in the history of rock and roll.

He managed to parlay this into a career, in which he drew attention away from his tendency to sing like a woman, by becoming an adequate hoofer and a video star, none of which has anything to do with being able to sing. He took Berry Gordy's approach to the business of music and personalised it. To call his lyrics mundane is a monstrous compliment.

It appears he never recovered from his family. It would also appear, from what's been posted on here, the family will attach themselves like tentacles to him for the forseeable future. A very sad man, who was probably never equipped to deal with the world in which he found himself.

That his death has attracted as much attention as it has, is indicative of a cult of celebrity, to the detriment of an understanding and appreciation of any talent he may have had. A cult of celebrity which is fruitlessly crying out for heroes. People seem to think the world is as portrayed in Woman's Day, New Idea, Women's Weekly and whatever else appears at the checkout of their supermarket.

No artist in history has been more of a victim of hype than Michael. I think that's why I detested his work so much. A rule-of-thumb in showbusiness is to identify the inverse proportion between the talent of the artist and the requirement for his management to promote him. If he needs to be so marketed, he's a dud. This doesn't mean the marketing won't work.

Just my opinion, mind you. Please take offence.

'I Want You Back' is a great song. Otherwise, I find his work plastic and preposterously overrated. He and his family are, as they have always been, since they fell under the spell of Berry Gordy's marketing, a mere facade. That he's dead could easily be seen as a release from a life never lived.

I'm not a massive Jackson fan, but I respect and somewhat enjoy his musical output, and am fascinated by aspects of his life and his story. I watched that whole thing tonight, and I think that's been on television once before, or at least the parts with his ex-manager have.

Anyway, I know that was obviously biased and had an agenda that it wanted to push, but I really don't know what to think with Jackson anymore away from his music, like whether he actually did certain things or not with children. So many layers to it all, and IMO it's just too hard to definitely say yes or no anymore.

There were some pretty strong accusations and accounts of certain events in the doco, some of which would take a pretty sick mind in their own rite to make up - specifically the whole 'faeces on the bedsheet' scene, which when you picture in your head, with Jackson there with a group of children, is trully a disgusting thing to imagine. I'm not saying I believe what the doco says, because I've already stated that I just don't know anymore. I'm just saying a lot of what has allegedly gone on looks suspicious in a lot of ways. I'd like to believe that he was innocent of those kind of things - because I like to believe in the good in most people - but I just don't know what to think with him anymore.

I also watched it and a lot of the accusations are extremely disturbing. The way that Chandler boy was sitting on his lap at the music awards show in Europe, it just looked wrong on so many levels. If true, MJ deserved to be in jail. But who knows. It would not surprise if some of the things are true. That interview with Bashir a few years ago when Jackson was sitting next to that boy and they talked about how they slept in the same bed together, just more evidence against him. You just needed to look at the person and see his behaviour patterns. When was the last time you have seen a Jackson interview and thought, 'he seems normal.' The whole doco was heavily biased against Jackson though. The question you have to ask is, if he was a normal member of the public who was known to have slept in the same bed as young boys, what would his fate be?

I love his music, but as a human he seemed to have a lot of big flaws.

Wasn't he meant to be like 14 years old at the time? I know it's Michael Jackson, and Chandler obviously idolised him like crazy at the time, but I'd feel extremely uncomfortable if my own parent had asked me to sit on their lap at that age, let alone someone who isn't a relative, and in a public place, on an internationally televised event. I find it strange that Chandler would have even agreed to do that. Even if you'd take the connotations of abuse or inappropriateness out of it, it just seems like unusual and weird behaviour IMO from both Jackson and the boy, and I find it strange that the boy's mother didn't express as much in the moment. I suppose she was just blinded by Jackson's generosity and apparent kindness to her and her family

That's the kind of thing that confuses it for me. I really don't know if Jackson was just "being weird", or if there was actually inappropriate stuff going on. And I don't think anyone can conclusively say yes or no to it, and that's why I really don't know what to think of him from a non-musical perspective.
I've got no problem with Jackson being a closet homosexual if he in fact was (I don't really think so, but you never really know), because that's entirely his business. However, if he was acting out these desires on underrage males, and using his influence and idol status (in the kid's eyes) to convince them to engage in sexual acts with him, then that is obviously not on at all and totally inappropriate and abhorrent behaviour.

You cannot tell me that his voice as a kid was something out of this world. Got the full workout on Ben - and that was all him. He injected emotion into the most ridiculous pop confection

Also the Off the Wall album and Billie Jean are monuments to his pop genius. Jumped the shark after that though

Loved his live performance of Billie Jean. Having a look at those music charts is amazing, allover the world he is back on top again, just wow. And just read a article that there are tons of new songs etc he was working on and also heaps of stuff from his other albums that didn't make the cut.

Yeah getting pathetic now, was hunted while he was alive, and is still hunted when he's dead.

John Lennon ****ed a 14 year old girl.

If you read what I wrote again, I was saying it moreso in the context of "Why wasn't the kid himself weirded out by/uncomfortable with sitting on someone's lap at that age?", rather than anything else. But still, any sort of sexual conduct with a minor is inappropriate.

One of a kind, best liver performer of our time. Saw a few of his concerts live and was blown away each time. The sad thing is that he never had a childhood, was a superstar at eight and could sing and dance at that age as well. A genius for me, grew up with all his music amazing to think he changed the way people looked at music and dance, not to mention the innovative video clips.

I used to watch Idol in its first couple of seasons, and any time someone would attempt an MJ song, I would cringe heavily, because the difference in stage presence between the contestant and mj was beyond a joke.

I love this video, just the showmanship and how much the crowd love him. His dancing at the 6:50 mark til the end is amazing!
You sound like you should be in the audience. :o

This is better dancing.

Even Walken is saner than the late Michael Jackson...

This was my favourite Jackson song, so I wouldn't cross a street to see him perform.

Ben has a lot of emotion though.

Timberlake will have to find someone else to rip off.

Yeah i don't know about the kid stuff, him having sex with them.I didn't like his music, the music was to gayish for my liking.I reckon he probably did nothing to the kids because those kids would be older now.Their would be someone out there all ****ed up and go nuts at the world causing damage or try taking him down with a weapon.
