THE Gold Coast will today end months of speculation by announcing the signing of star Lion Michael Rischitelli.
The Suns have remained tight lipped about whether it is Rischitelli or Brennan and their progress on contract talks has been a closely guarded secret but sources have told The Courier-Mail a deal that will earn Rischitelli about $2m over four years has been done.

Based on the compensation received for Bock and Krakouer, the Lions would be in line to receive either a first-round or end-of-first-round selection, since the the compensation is based on a formula including the amount of money he will receive, his age and accomplishments. That he is 24 and will finish high in the best and fairest will boost his price.
Gold Coast SUNS CEO Travis Auld said the announcement of the third uncontracted player to commit to the Club is another enormous step in the team’s list build for the 2011 AFL season.
“Rischitelli has had a stellar year with the Lions and is undoubtedly at the top of his game. This is another exciting announcement for the Gold Coast SUNS and to attract a player of Rischitelli’s calibre is proof we are building something special for the Gold Coast,” he said.
Rischitelli has agreed to a three-year contract and will join the Gold Coast SUNS for pre-season training in November.

Lions Chief Executive Michael Bowers said the Club was bitterly disappointed to have lost a quality player who is approaching the prime of his AFL career.
"The rules and regulations that the AFL has put in place for the expansion clubs are difficult to compete against," Mr Bowers said.
While disappointed with his decision to move on, the Brisbane Lions AFC would like to thank Michael for his contribution to the Club.
"I spoke to (Brisbane coach Michael Voss) 'Vossy' today and obviously I've left on a good note," Rischitelli said. "I'll treasure all the memories and all the good times I've had at the Lions but ... it's going to be great to be part of something new and the time is right."
He denied that his commitment to the Lions was compromised after he was offered up to Carlton 12 months ago as part of a failed trade deal for Brendan Fevola. "It's probably got nothing to do with that," he said. "If you have a look at the season, it hasn't really effected personally my year. I'm not going to speculate on how tough the decision was but it was made purely for me and what's best for my future."
"We were very keen to deliver an inside midfielder with great skill and desire to tackle around stoppages into our mix," he said.
"Rischitelli is much more than this, he is a very clean ball handler with excellent skills. He is of great character, reliable, and a very good worker on the training track. He will bring fantastic experience and leadership to our club."
I would have thought, though he is a significantly less valuable player than Bock, that his compensation would come in one higher at band 2. Age, longer contract, better 2010 season.
Yep, definate band 2
Um, what will band 2 mean if he's declared as one?

The quotes from http://sportal.com.au/afl-news-display/suns-snare-rischitelli-98105 made me laugh.
A direct quote from Rischitelli somehow reads like Hamilton wrote it for him with those weasel words. Surely he knows whether it's got nothing to do with it or not, as well as it not being speculation if he knows what the case is in his decision making process.![]()

Rischitelli is tipped to win the Brisbane Lions' best and fairest award tomorrow night. But the midfielder said it would not be an awkward occasion because he had now ended months of speculation linking him to the Suns.
Brisbane Lions - End of Round One selection.
The selection for Michael Rischitelli may be activated by the Brisbane Lions at the end of round one in any one of the 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 or 2014 NAB AFL Draft Selection Meetings. The selection will be immediately placed after the selection of the premiership team of that season (which concludes round one), and any compensation pick under AFL Rule 6 (In 2010, West Coast will receive a selection under this rule). In the case of two or more clubs activating an end of round one selection in the one AFL Draft Meeting, the club(s) that is (are) placed lower on the premiership ladder in that particular season, will be placed first in the selection order.
