It seems the Lyon is not interested in him being part of your future. Is he likely to be delisted?

I rate him, tries his guts out at every contest and is capable of taking a strong mark. Not sure why lazy Gardiner has been preffered ahead of him.

We have all heard the rumours about Dal Santo heading over Windy Hill way so...

1.What do you think Dal Santo is worth?
2.Do you think throwing Rixy into the trade is worth negative value in the Lyon's mind?

We could do with some competition for Laycock so he pulls his head in.

He played at CHB against Essendon earlier in the year, and this should be his spot.

Unfortunately he has been getting played at FF with Casey, which means we have no spot for him in the St Kilda side.

With McEvoy needing time in the ruck and Allen up forward, it is hard to say what role he has.

Rumour has it he is contracted in '09 - I guess as he is one of the fitter guys on our list and rarely misses a game.

Rix is great at VFL level but he only gets an average of 5 disposals in AFL.
Even Lazy Gardiner has managed an average of 9 despite limited time on ground and injuries.
Both King and Gardiner win more ruck contests than Rix.
Then we have another young guy coming through so not much room for him.

I would hope that another club could pick him up. From what I hear he is a great guy and a hard worker for the club.

Yep - he is not a tap ruckman like the other two (for sure). Gardi smashes them in the ruck at VFL level - Rix more exploits them around the ground with fitness (doesn't really win the tap more than 50/50).

Most of what you say is true. However I know all this about Rixy. But he competes, he has a dip, shows a bit of heart. Which is more than you can say for most ruckmen in the league.

I believe he still has plenty of improvement left in him to come with experience. He has only played 29 games. He was in fantastic form for Casey and your boy refused to play him.

So we should make him a 100 gamer before we decide he is not good enough?

Sadly heart's just not enough. Few of our boys could use do with even a fraction of his ticker (*COUGH* Fiora *COUGH*), but he just hasn't been able to make the jump from VFL to AFL

These are all quite charming assessments of the Rix dog....but did any of you read my initial post?

Can't someone answer my questions?

You (essendon) dont have anyone good enough to trade for Dal.
You (essendon) can have Rix for a bag of chips

1.What do you think Dal Santo is worth? First rounder at least.
2.Do you think throwing Rixy into the trade is worth negative value in the Lyon's mind? Not sure what you're getting at...but I wouldn't think so...

He is all yours

Doesn't fit in with the layout here...

Dal & Rix for ya first rounder.

Cheers

Keep Rix. i mean what happens if King nd Gardi get injured and Mcevoy is not up to it yet?it would completely screw our structure.because koschitzke would have to ruck and riewoldt having to be the only forward

Come on you know you will not get that.

I was thinking more along the lines of:

Dal, Rix, and pick 47 For Lovett + picks 23 and 39
So the standard 'Lovett + 2nd rounder' with a twist?

Pass

At subanwallan if that happens we can always chuck Milney in the ruck, he's as good as Cain Ackland when it comes to the hitouts and does more around the ground. I'm sure the mids will be happy with Milney as the replacement

Not worthy of a new thread but worthy of genuine lulz.

Lion hope still lives for Davis, Rix also in mix

Voss said the club was looking at three possible options next week - snapping up a crumbing forward like Davis, an extra midfielder or a ruckman like delisted St Kilda player Michael Rix.
Despite not ruling out Davis, it is Rix, 27, that appears to be in the box seat for selection by the Lions.
Rix was part of St Kilda's biggest clean-out in eight years at the end of the 2008 season, one of eight players delisted in October.
Rix would add welcome depth to a Lions ruck division relying on Jamie Charman and youngster Matthew Leuenberger.
"I guess Michael Rix has been trialled and obviously listed at St Kilda so he's one that springs to mind," Voss said.
"We've got three ruckman now but (draftee) Bart (McCulloch) obviously is a bit younger and Michael has got a little bit more experience."

I always liked Rix, but geez the Lions must be desperate for a ruckman who can't win a tap out. Goodluck to the big man anyways.

I still maintain that, as one of the fittest players on our list who was disciplined and rarely injured, he would be a serviceable CHB option and pinch hit ruckman. I am disappointed the club played him at FF almost every week at Casey rather than developing some cover down back for Goose and Max (desperately needed). We turned Sam F from a forward to a defender and could have "invested" in Rix more wisely.

Having said all this, I can't see him getting picked up.
