On what he did up there. Crazy Vossy was ahead of the game. If he had got Fev and the rest as FA's then he wouldn't have been near as bad of. Trading Henderson and a pick for Fev is up there with the stuff you see on Funniest Home video's. But he learned and I thought they were going OK.

For us , I think we have enough Lions here. Voss might get a senior job elsewhere. So PASS

Would love a bit of Lenny power. Great thinker, great man, great player, hugely respected, one of the best ever Saints.
And we already have Lappin, Black would be almost redundant.
I see Hayes as a future coach. Not sure about Black.
And there's always Lingy??
Way in front of all others mentioned in the thread. A head coach in the waiting. Think he'll be at the Blues next year, regrettably.

the guy that traded the farm for Fevola, when he had a very serviceable FF in Bradshaw

recruited top up spuds because he thought he had a premiership list

had a bunch of players jump ship to GC

you want that guy?

There is a reason he is called crazy vossy. If your going to hire him, put him under a straight jacket. Also Pray that Your coach doesnt get sick as well.

There is nothing wrong with a favourite son becoming coach. Plenty have done it very well. Not necessarily at their home club. Some recent club favourite sons have been pretty good coaches.
Mark Thompson
John Worsfold
Paul Roos
To a lesser extent you can look at Hird and Buckley.

The main difference is that they all did an apprenticeship whereas Voss didn't. Yes Voss' career at the Lions may not have been the best and maybe because he did no apprenticeship but 5 years as a senior coach is not a bad thing to have on your resume. He must have learnt something from the mistakes he made.

Clearly not met so far on this board with the warmest reception. We are all entitled to our opinion. I for one would not be dead against it if Scotty thought it was a good idea.

Not quite sure that Mark Thompson ever played for Geelong. Though I'm sure he'd have been a favourite son if he did...

As I said if you read it "not necessarily at their home club" is what I said of which Mark Thompson fits in that area. But he is at his home club now.

I wouldn't take him - not necessarily because of any perceived skills shortfall, but simply because he goes from being Top Dog (which he has been at Brisbane since he became Captain, really) to having to report to not just anybody, but an old teammate who he used to captain. That would be difficult for anyone, let alone a forceful personality like Voss.

In my opinon you're not a "favourite son" if you're not at your home club. Dermott Brereton could coach a thousand games at Geelong but to call him a favourite son would be inaccurate I reckon.

Hey guy's I've got a reliable source I can't name but he tells me Geelong are planning to make their administrative department a permanent Brisbane premiership reunion.

Simon Black is retiring and moving to Geelong :D
