Lets hope so, as that's one of the few things we lack at the moment.
Smity7 and OneGreatClub...my comment about David Teague was meant to be a joke....and it fell flat.

It was supposed to be sarcastic humour. Surely we can all see that Teague is an amateur compared with the great Michael Voss!

My "joke" fell flat on its face.

Can you imagine being Rory Sloane or Paddy Freeagentfield listening to David Teague telling you how to play football?

Hmm I thought the myth of 'must be a great player to be a good coach' went out with the Tony Shaw's and Tim Watson's of the world.

What does sarcasm mean? Is anything like sarsparilla? I like sarsparilla. But only when its ice cold.

Right now, I'm drinking rum and sarcasm.

Teague may well be a great tactician (hell, Macca19 has never been anywhere near playing at the elite level and he seems to have a better eye for the game than many AFL level assistant coaches), it would just be weird. Even worse if he's apparently a forward coach. Walker and Betts have probably kicked more goals in single games than Teague kicked in his entire career, and yet Teague is coaching them on how best to kick goals.

Yeah that's true. Intuitively, I agree with the notion that it makes sense that line coaches specialise in the area of the ground in which they played, but the opposite is fairly common practice across the AFL. Looking internally at our own club, Aaron Greaves never played AFL and wasn't even a ruckman but seems to be helping bring Lobbe on quite well. I suppose clubs are looking more for people who are excellent communicators who have a sharp knowledge of the structures and tactics currently employed rather than guys who exhibited the technical skills. Teague was appointed as player coach at the Northern Bullants in the VFL a few years ago which is a pretty rare occurrence in this day and age so must at least possess those traits.

Hang on.......the Cows have got David Teague as midfield coach!
Yeah but we've just been to Dubai: by the end of the next Showdown, I reckon the Crows midfield will be showing signs of fa-teague :)

Voss on Open Mike now. Made a great comment when asked if he'd like to coach again.

"If I was to answer now....no"
"But...I really want to be involved in club, to be in a club to support, whoever that may be. And the whole club has to be aligned. If there's ever any chink in the armour, you cannot climb the top of the mountain. It must be aligned from the board all the way down to the players"

Seems he chose wisely.
