Well, we found out what the issue was.

It's not Voss.

It's the ruck situation.
Devils advocate, perhaps Voss wanted Lobbe out sooner and Ryder rucking but Ken kept sticking fat with Lobbe?

As Ken says a fit and in form Lobbe and Ryder would be dominant.

None of us know what his role ia or has been.

Our issue has not been the midfield, defence etc. It was not looking like a team.
All of a sudden we start playing as one team and the results come again. Who would have thunk that.

Worth noting that Voss wanted Arch to play AFL ASAP. Buddah Hocking wanted to ease him in as sub.
We ended up with a mix of both and appears to have worked. :thumbsu:

I have backed Ken since day 1 and have yet to turn on him. I haven't seen enough of Voss yet to make a call

Hartlett - playing consistently good footy and a real hardness to his play now.
Could the emergence of Sam Gray and Ah Chee have something to do with it as he now has room to move?

Hartlett's form was turning well before Gray and Arch have gotten extended runs in the side. Since the bye, Hartlett has been imo a top 3 player for us.

It's probably helped but he also seems to be finally played as a mid and not a sweeping HBF / wingman / high half forward.

Yeah just thinking from a cause and effect point of view. Having Ah Chee and Gray doing the dirty work has allowed him to stand back a bit more and play to his strenghts.

For mine Sam Gray is doing what many were hoping Young would, and Ah Chee is definitely playing like that big bodied midfielder we were expecting Moore to do consistently. That in turn frees up other players to strut their stuff.

I think the turn around in our mids has more to do with lobbe taking a back seat to Ryder at the centre bounces than anything else!!!

Our clearance work from stoppages with Ryder tapping it to a set play runner is poetry in motion... Lobbe getting the clear tap to his feet or down the throat of an oppo player is crap!!!

Ryder has definitely made a difference, but we struggled a lot in the midfield even early in the year when Ryder was a sole ruck.

Maybe our midfield is doing better because our fringe players are stepping up after being sent back to the sanfl to work on the areas identified by the coaches, archee and grey have emerged at the expense of young and Moore Ken kept putting them back until someone got it worked out.

You mean when he was carrying his achilles injury??
And due to ASADA not able to play any preseason games with his teammates to gel with them. Lobbe's shit form aside, it was always going to take half a season to have Ryder and the midfield start to get any instinctive awareness going.

the inquirer was interesting today.

Suggests our centre square work is OK, even though we only really have 4 players that bump up the numbers in Wines, Gray, Boak and Hartlett. The rest must really drag the average down as we're sixth but any combination of those generally works quite well. around the ground stoppages also must be very down. clubs have definitely worked us out on defensive wing stoppages reducing that slingshot momentum out of d50.
